He didn’t offer a direct comment on the jury verdict acquitting George Zimmerman in the shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin.

But he criticized what he called “shoot first” laws, saying they are drafted by gun lobby extremists and let people “shoot first and argue ‘justifiable homicide’ later.”

He says all the facts in the shooting will “probably never be known” but that he and other civic leaders would continue working to eliminate these kinds of laws.

Bloomberg says “the tragic death of Trayvon Martin, an unarmed child attempting to walk home from the store, will continue to drive our efforts.”

In this matter Bloomberg is right on target. With out the stupid ALEC law Zimmerman would probably have had to explain to the jury why he felt deadly force necessary. As things stand in Florida, if the Pizza delivery guy comes to your door by mistake, you could shoot him dead in the belief that he was a threat. ( believe tehave been such cases. )

If bloomberg was correct, then the Murder rate in Florida, per 100,000 should have been 100 times higher than in N.Y.

FBI statistics shows that Bloomberg is wrong because Florida’s liberal Gun Laws and Shooting laws has the Murder Rate in Florida vs New York, very close, at about 5 per 100,000 vs 4 per 100,000 respectively.

If Bloombergs ideas were even one iota correct the difference in the murder rate should have been huge.

For once I agree with Bloomberg. The scary thing about the stand your ground law is that Zimmerman never even testified. He never had to take an oath and look the jury in the eye and explain why he felt he had to use deadly force. It was simply here is a teen who doesn’t look like he belongs in this neighborhood so its ok for a person to get out of his car, follow him and shoot an unarmed teen. Be careful what you support yids. I’m sure in many neighborhoods a man dressed in black with a long unkekmpt beard and a black gangsta style fedora will also be viewed as rather scary. Can we also know shoot the man in black who knocks on the wrong door?

Laws appropriate for Florida may not be appropriate for New York.

#10 have you ever even left the shtetle in NY? In virtually all of Florida, Jews are treated well, as are blacks. There are some racists there but not many. And who treats your daughters that way? Shomrim who are ignorant like you, no doubt.

Oh Bloomberg is back at it again, opportunist!

Police in NYC have killed so many just because it was more convenient then putting up a fight.
