The protesters chanted “Justice for Trayvon Martin” and “No Justice, No Peace.” One held a sign that said “Trayvon is my son, daughter, brother, father, uncle.”

Afterward, hundreds of mostly peaceful protesters blocked traffic Sunday night as they zigzagged their way to Times Square where they staged a mass rally and sit-in. Police say there were no arrests.

Since the verdict, protests have broken out around the country. The case unleashed debate in the U.S. over racial profiling, self-defense and equal justice.

My heart and prayers are with the Martin family. The loss of life is tragic. The laws in Florida are so backward. The man who instigated the violence and murdered a unarmed boy walking home with tea and skittles walks while Trayvon RIP.

One held a sign that said ‘Trayvon is my son, daughter, brother, father, uncle.’
As someone who does rentals and goes to their homes a lot, I can’t tell you how much sense this sentence makes.

I wonder what would have happened if Trayvon would have killed George, nobody would have ever heard about it, would have been just another murder . don’t get me wrong, this George zimmerman is an idiot for following Trayvon, but the truth is that everybody only cares about the black man’s life and not the white. That being said my heart goes out to Trayvon’s family and I wish them all the best .

I’m shocked and outraged that Zimmerman got off scot free; he’s an aggressive man with a history of violent behavior – he beat up 2 girlfriends, assaulted a police officer, molested a young relative, etc., even before murdering Martin. Also, I don’t understand why his history of repeatedly calling 911 to report innocent black people, even young girls playing jump rope in their driveway, as suspicious was not allowed to be mentioned in the trial. Surely, that was relevant. Plus it was Martin standing his ground against a stalker with a gun. And two voice experts’ testimony wasn’t allowed – one said that the screaming voice could not have been Zimmerman and the other said the voice was conclusively that of Martin. Not to mention that the screaming stopped immediately after the gunshot.

#3-I wish to correct your scholarly thesis in which you stated “the man who instigated the violence and murdered an unarmed boy”. Zimmerman did not instigate any violence. During testimony at his trial, it was pointed out that Trayvon Martin waited for Zimmerman at an intersection and stated “Do you have a problem, (expletive deleted);” at that point, Zimmerman stated, “No man, I don’t have any problem”. Then, Trayvon punched Zimmerman in the nose, causing him to fall. Afterwards, Martin began beating Zimmerman, viciously picking up his head, and continuously slamming it into the concrete. Noted forensic pathologist, Dr. Vincent Di Maio substantiated Zimmerman’s story, after reviewing the forensic evidence. Trayvon Martin was not unarmed; the use of concrete to assault someone, is tantamount (legally) to using a deadly weapon. Also, Trayvon was trained in mixed martial arts. He was not a “child” or a “skinny kid” by any means. If Zimmerman would not have employed deadly force, he would have either been dead, or would have been rendered a vegetable, because of brain injuries. Incidentally, there is no law against following a person, and inquiring what they are
    doing. Case closed!

Kid was a hoodlum… No one knows if TM jumped GZ and started beating him… That kid fought the wrong guy and now he’s dead… Enough with everyone trying to appease the family and the black racists who hate whites…. They r all thugs.. And should be rounded up in cattle cars and locked up… Enough appeasement… And enough of identifies as a black man BHO (Obama) (only said that as apparently GZ identifies as Hispanic) weighing on apron a murder that happens every day in America and every min… But opened his fat mouth on this one like a child

Since they want to show that they only mean the law of the land. The government should deal the instigators and illegal protesters with an iron fist to the full extend of the law no compromise.

     ari is dead on, ty!
How much clearer can it get? Following is not agerssion, Yelling is not aggresion being a ‘cracker’ is not agression. Throwing a punch is.
Stand Your Ground WAS NOT USED as a defense!!! OMG, stop referencing it!!
With a self defense claim the prosecution has the burden to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the defendant was the agressor. In this case it was demonstrated that Trayvon threw the first punch.
Zimmerman is not a racist- hist prom date was BLACK, He was a youth council and big brother to BLACK kids, He has public records having filed complaints on the Sanford PD on behalf of a BLACK person.
This was not a race thing- nor is it a ‘crazy lose gun law’ thing. In fact, florida has very tough manslaughter laws when a gun is used- tougher sentencing than NY.
Liberal tools do me a favor and inform yourselves.

For far too long, Peruvian-Americans have been profiled for being meek and mild-mannered and willing to accept the onslaughts of a corrupt system of justice which allows them to be hit but does not allow them to hit back. And next time it will be an Ecuadorian-American, a Bolivian-American, a Chilean-American. Where will it end? When will it stop? It’s time for a besieged humanity, the hispanic-American community, to stand up for their rights to defend themselves against young men who are 5 ‘, 11″ tall, and weigh 158 pounds, young men who straddle over the chubby abdomens of hispanic-Americans while raining body and facial blows, as neighbors look on in bewilderment, and are afraid to come out of their homes to get involved.

Stop the profiling! Viva la defensa!

To #12 -Mellie- There were at least five witnesses who identified the screaming voice as Zimmerman’s. The reason that the screaming stopped after the shot was fired, was because Trayvon Martin was no longer bashing Zimmerman’s head into the concrete. Regarding Zimmerman’s history of calling the police, those calls were allowed at trial. While it is true that Zimmerman’s arrest for domestic violence, and his scuffle with a cop were not allowed into evidence, neither was Trayvon Martin’s texts showing him fighting, and his suspension from school for fighting and drug use. Incidentally, Trayvon Martin was given a choice to stop beating George Zimmerman, at least 30 seconds before the shot rang out, as a neighbor saw the fight and told Martin to stop. Martin ignored him, and kept slamming Zimmerman’s head into the concrete, until Zimmerman was forced to use deadly force, as permitted by law. The jury heard all of the evidence, and unanimously rendered a just and fair verdict. You may not like that verdict, but this is America, and we have to abide by the decision of the jury.

Getting 1000 people in Times Square for a rally is like a Tuesday afternoon just after lunch. Most people recognize that in a democracy, juries make decisions that we often disagree with.
Wonder if they protested when OJ was acquitted.
