According to Bennett and Livni’s proposal, one rabbi will hold the Chief Rabbi position, while the other will serve as the president of the rabbinate court.

Good idea! We don’t need Jewish POPES!
Excellent idea. A secular compromise approach for ultra orthodox folks – lets hope the rabbis here listen !
Its about time. Hopefully, both the Litvashe and Sehphardeshe gadolim will provide their support for this long overdue initiative that will consolidate the positions, save money and help bring achdus to the klal by minimizing the sometimes wildly different practices of the two.
Israel should not have a chief rabbi to begin. It is not an honor of the highest proportions for a jew to have regulation over all of the people unless there is a Temple. And if you want more rabbinical incursion in life, we need more rabbis; not more chief rabbis.
she wants to get rid of rabbonim altogether
A, who asked her to opine on anything religious. B, there is no way to combine these two posts and maintain any credibility. Differences in minhagim and even halacha exist, it’s not a matter of achdius.
