Patrick J. Bulgaro (buhl-GAR’-oh) will announce he’s leaving the position he was appointed to by Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver as early as Tuesday’s meeting.

The resignation has been confirmed by Silver’s office.

The Joint Commission on Public Ethics regulates ethics in the legislative and executive branches and regulates lobbying.

No reason was provided, but several members say the work was demanding for a part-time position.

The commission was recently critical of Silver’s role in arranging a secret $103,000 settlement of sexual harassment accusations against Assemblyman Vito Lopez.

Commissioner Ravi Batra resigned last year, claiming it lacked independence from Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

The commission’s first chairwoman resigned in April.
