The Police Department send out a memo, that Police Commissioner Ray Kelly reminded officers that they're not allowed to have goatees, chinstrap beards like Abraham Lincoln's, or designer beards. Police officers are still allowed to have moustaches.
There are exceptions. Plainclothes officers are allowed to have any kind of facial hair they want, and men who suffer from a dermatological condition that gives them a rash when they shave are also exempt. [NY1]

how exactly is it “RELIGIOUS DISCRIMINATION” if htey make a person shave off a beard. I figure hed have a hard time proving that, being that htere are many frum yidden without beards, and last i checked there is no halacha requiring one to grow a beard.
If htey made him work on shabbos or eat treifos, hed have an argument.
Why does everyone think that this is a conspiracy against yhis Yoili guy. Nobody at NYPD cares about this one guy. Get over yourselves.

I remember a lady cop looking for a perp on an elevated subway line and while on the platform this dunce cop took out her make up and started puttting on make up and not realizing that the perp was under the platform. Some cops got to look good before putting on handcuffs!
This really happened and a story I will never forget.
Discrimination-what if other companies start saying the same thing? They should care about their image when they don’t catch criminals or let them go.
All he needs is a letter from his doctor, as it’s known if we shave for the first time a severe rash break out, therefore it’s not representing the NYPD.
