NBCNEWYORK (http://bit.ly/13sXvW4) is reporting that statues of Mary and Jesus at St. Anselm’s were left covered in red paint, while the doors of both the Holy Cross Greek Church and nearby Bay Ridge Jewish Center were left with the word “no” featured prominently.
Police Commissioner Ray Kelly reported that a local bank and two other sites were hit by the vandal, as well.
A parishioner arriving at St. Anselm’s this morning immediately blessed herself with the sign of the cross upon viewing the damage, which, she said, gave her “chills.”
According to the commissioner, while investigators were taking stock of the damage the suspect approached them and announced that the vandalism was his work.
“You got me,” said the man, who police say lives in the area. “I did it all,” the vandal said.
Very unusual for a man of that age to due such a thing unless he’s mentally ill.
The whole thing sounds bogus to me. First, he doesn’t fit the age group. Second, when did you ever hear of a criminal walking over to the cops & saying “you got me”? Either he’s covering for someone else he knows or he simply is crazy & took the blame. Whatever the case is, I don’t think he’s the right guy.
