Long Island, NY – The state Health Department is advising 36 of a Long Island obstetrician-gynecologist's patients to be tested for hepatitis and HIV, saying that the doctor sometimes used the same syringe full of flu vaccine - but not the same needle - on more than one patient.

The agency says there's no evidence that the shots infected any of Dr. E. Jacob Simhaee's patients with any ailment, and there is an "extremely low'' risk he could have spread the blood-borne diseases while giving flu shots this fall, the DOH is saying.

Simhaee's lawyer, Craig Schaum, says the physician is "cooperating in every way'' with authorities.

The warning comes two months after authorities said a different Long Island doctor's sloppy injection technique infected at least one patient with the liver disease hepatitis C. that disclosure prompted notices to thousands of patients [AP]

he didnt reuse needles. just the syringe with the left-over medication. it’s not the syringe he wa saving money on-its the flu vaccine. He happens to be a very nice guy with lots of Kavod Hatorah. He saw my sister an I for a while for free before we got good insurance and has many such cases. He’s very old-school. I know it’s not an excuse but I’m sure he didnt think it could harm anyone or he would have never done it. and yes, persians do have a reputation for being cheap-just like poles have a reputation for being real dumb….

And most of you talk about the doctors like they are go–d because the lines in these people offices are long!

PLEEEASE spare me with the stupidity on what makes a doctor a good one!

Anyone that will not see the needle being opened in FRONT Of them and lets a doctor use a needle on them is a FOOL.

I would never let a doctor come in with an open needle. NEVER.

These syringes probaly cost pennies. Do these MDs who earn a fortune still have to be so cheap & play Russian Roulette with our health?

His patients should be screaming right now.
