In 2011, 90 percent of the 2,433 traceable guns used in crimes were from outside New York state. The year before, 86 percent of the 2,319 guns came from out-of-state.

“Despite all we do to keep our city safe, we are increasingly at the mercy of weak national gun laws and gun laws in other states,” Mayor Michael Bloomberg said. “We’ve done what we can, but it’s unfortunately very easy to carry a gun from one state to another.”

Most of the guns come from 10 states, particularly Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Pennsylvania. City officials said the states supplying illegal guns have weak gun laws.

Bloomberg, an outspoken advocate for gun control, has already lambasted lax laws in many of the states, raising the ire of gun advocates.

“To those who say ‘stay out of our state,’ our answer is: We’d love to, just as soon as you stop letting guns seep into the black market and get in the hands of criminals who murder our citizens,” Bloomberg said.

The billionaire mayor said he would keep fighting to get laws changed and will continue to support candidates and elected officials across the country who agree with his gun control agenda.

Well, sure! After all of the criminals participated in the gun-buy-back program they then bought new guns from out-of-state!

So how does the S.A.F.E. act help keep NY safer if the criminals can get what they want while law abiding citizens are defensively disadvantaged?

    Bloomberg is right!
So as long as the “bad guys” will have access to guns, we have to make sure as many “good guys” as possible have guns too!

If we are (heaven forbid) confronted by a gunman, (or any other deadly attacker) don’t expect a cop to suddenly appear.

All those criminals with guns out there, why should I not have the same right to protect myself, my family or any innocent victim, as police do?

    My old saying:
“Show me 23 innocent victims of a gunman, and I’ll show you 22 corpses that might have still been alive if one of them had a gun.”
