Washington – A man allegedly armed with a shotgun was arrested at the U.S. Capitol Friday afternoon, authorities said.

Police have cordoned off the area around Columbus Circle, including parts of Louisiana Avenue, D Street and First Street.
Police are searching his car for possible bomb materials.

According to a law enforcement official who spoke to VIN News, there are more weapons and items of serious concern in his vehicle. The situation is more serious than previously known, and the police are now closing off many other streets.
