Over the past several weeks, many in the Jewish community have received hateful emails that use falsehood and innuendo about Senator Barack Obama’s religion and attack him personally. As Jewish United States Senators who have not endorsed a candidate for the Democratic nomination, we condemn these scurrilous attacks.

We find it particularly abhorrent that these attacks arc apparently being sent specifically to the Jewish Community. Jews, who have historically been the target of such attacks, should be the first to reject these tactics.

We won’t dignify these falsehoods by repeating them in order to refute them. Instead, we will express our outrage at these tactics, which are being used to demonize a good and
decent man and our friend and colleague. Attempting to manipulate voters into supporting or opposing one candidate or another based on despicable and fictitious attacks is disgraceful. These false and malicious attacks should not be part of our political discourse.

All voters should support whichever candidate they believe would make the best president. We sincerely hope that Americans will make that decision based on the factual records of these candidates, not false charges circulated by anonymous mass emails.

Sincerely, Carl Levin, Barbara Boxer, Ben Cardin, Russ Feingold, Frank Lautenberg, Bernie Sanders, Ron Wyden. [TMP]

He’s not a Moslem, at least not now. But he was born a Moslem, which means according to them he’s a meshumad, and thus a greater target for terrorists.

A bigger problem is his church, which he chose to join, and is a “black nationalist” church. He has said openly that the church’s minister had a great influence on him. He’s been distancing himself a bit from them now that he’s in the public eye, but it should be worrying.

If a white candidate were a member of a “white nationalist” church, which he chose to join of his own volition, it wouldn’t matter how much he said he disagreed with the racist aspects, he’d never be allowed to live it down. Look at the hot water politicians get into if they merely speak at Bob Jones University!

Why is Carl Levin the first to condemn anti-Muslim verbal attacks on Obama, and somehow bringing Jews into the whole issue, while he’s the last to condemn the Arabs for their murderous violence against the Jews?

Wow, with that list of signatories at the end of the letter, I am now tempted to berate Obama for anything, as long as I am doing the opposite of what those freaks say!

the acts are despicable but I am wondering if this is some stupid strategy to get voters to actually vote for Obama now if they were going to in the first place.

Obama, Mit Romney, and Huckabee seem to be a decent people and would each be a great choice for Presdient.

Hillary? You got to be kidding!
