Samuel Balkany was on his way to a friend's house in Crown Heights about 10:30p.m. Friday when five black teenagers threw him against the fence of a house, yelled anti-Semitic epithets and beat him.
"They pushed me so I was leaning on the gate, and five guys were knocking me out for five minutes," Samuel, who is Lubavitch Hasidic, said last night. He said the teens yelled, "F—— Jew. It's our neighborhood. We're going to kill you, little Jew."
Bleeding from his head, Samuel went to his friend's house and then to Kings County Hospital. [nydailynews]

This is a brilliant statement and similar to something I have been saying for years … the biggest racists are the liberals who feel it their duty to defend and protect minorities who are otherwise incapable of taking care of themselves.
This shameful patronizing perspective of what minorities are capable of doing has been the single most shameful crime against black people since the advent of slavery in North America.
Conservatives are heartless for considering minorities no different than any other person, fully accountable for their lives, their livelihoods, actions, and destiny.
Were it not for the misguided naivete of liberal dogmatists the black community would be doing just fine.

If this was a story about five whites jumping an African American, it would make national papers. This story only made two New York papers. Is it because this type of crime is “expected” in Crown Heights or the media doesn’t care if it’s African Americans on whites, expecially Jews, especially Chassidic Jews?

Police believe, “the attack on Samuel Balkany is an isolated incident,” and they expect to arrest his attackers.
These attacks – several last summer and in the last two weeks, are not black community versus Jewish community, says the head of a Hasidic street patrol.
“Maybe it’s a gang initiation, or maybe it’s to prove amongst their friends that this is what they need to do to show their toughness,” said Yossi Stern, of the Shimra Patrol.

we are having all these troubles in these parts. (NYC) and environs, is; because, unlike in DR. Martin Luther King’s and Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel’s Day, we have false prophets who are leading their flock into a wasteland. Chief among them is AL SHARPTON (prob. saying to himself. “good or bad, as long as you spell my name right”). The Rev. Jesse Jackson, on the other hand is a great leader, who’s doing positive things for all Americans. He was one of the closest aides, and among the most loyal disciples of the late great DR. King.

5:41 thanks for posting. For the record I do lots of biz and have many african american buddies that constantly deride the black kids that roam w/o a life or hope. It is a shame and a sham and one like sharpton just don’t get it.
One of this days the Lord will put brains into these leaders and round up all the youth and there parents whom need direction and teach and consul them as to what NEEDS to be done to make it in America outside of hate robbery and violence.

To the poster from upstate NY: your message is very nice & as a Crown Heights resident, greatly appreciated. Of course we know that most Black people are just as law abiding as everyone else. But it’s the same old story, a few rotten apples….
However, crime in general is very bad here. The reason the “statistics” show a decline in crime here is because the lazy bums in the 71st precinct actively DISCOURAGE us from filing reports. They don’t show up, barely get the story straight, & just disappear ASAP.
However, this is Rabbi Balkany’s son, a member of the Rubashkin family. Big political clout here. Maybe now something will be done, although living in CH has made me a skeptic, so I don’t think there’ll be much of a difference. And quite frankly, I personally believe many of our local cops agree with the sentiments of the attackers.
The infamous precinct meeting should be THIS Thursday, not last week.
As an African American who reads the news on this site everyday and occasionally blogs,except Shabbos, out of respect, I would like to say, once again, that I am heart broken to hear that another anti-semitic attack has happened in Crown Heights. I live in Upstate New York and this behavior does not happen here. Black on Black crime is prevalent, but not Black on Jewish. With that said, and even with my apologies to the Jewish community in regard to this and all anti-semitic crimes, it will not change what has happened and I feel helpless to do anything to prevent it from happening again. Tomorrow is Martin Luther King Day and I am saddened that some of the Black youth in America, have forgotten all that he stood for, marched for and sacrificed for. This would make Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel very unhappy as well. I hope the young man will recover from his injuries and I continue to pray that this madness will end, once and for all.

At least Mayor Bloomberg is not as weak, and his Police Commissioner is much more effective, than that Shlimazl crew of fair weather friends that included that clown 1) lee-out of town 2) brown 3) who, when he came back to town had the nerve and the Chutzpah to bad-mouth the Jewish Community, in general. That same night (friday night) there was ANOTHER attack on two bochurim on eastern Parkway by a gang of 5 black youths at around 10:30.
BH they did not land in the hospital but they were beaten nonetheless.
