When Cathay Pacific airline workers unloaded the cargo container in Hong Kong, they found that it did not hold $143,000 worth of the popular, pricey phones — but instead they realized the package had been tampered with and discovered it was full of reams of paper rather than the I-phones.
A grand larceny investigation into the missing iPhones resulted in the arrests of four people, three Baldwin residents and one Brooklyn man.
Emil Shamailov 21, of 430 E. 8th St., Brooklyn, was arrested and charged with criminal possession of stolen property. And from Baldwin, police arrested Emmanuel Etienne 20, of 761 Grand Terrace, Jarred E. Thomas, 22, of 520 Woodland Estates Dr. and Duane Carlos, 20, of 725 Baldwin Ave.
