Brooklyn, NY – Assemblyman Hikind, State Senator Adams, and the new Black-Jewish Alliance Condemn Anti-Semitic Attack in Crown Heights

Crown Heights, NY – The Black-Jewish Alliance, recently inaugurated by Assemblyman Dov Hikind (D-Brooklyn) and 40 citywide officials*, has mobilized to condemn the latest anti-Semitic incident in Crown Heights. The alliance was formed in response to the 25% spike in hate crimes against the Black and Jewish communities since September 2007.

“Unfortunately, this is the latest in an outrageous series of hate crimes against Jewish victims,” Hikind said. “A 16-year-old yeshiva student was beaten last Friday night in a senseless attack that left him with a deep gash in his head. He was beaten with a rock or other sharp implement. Throughout the vicious attack, the 5 black teens shouted anti-Semitic slurs, saying, ‘Oh, little Jew boy, you think you own this neighborhood. Who are you, f_____ing Jew? We’re going to kill you, little Jew.’

“Our communities must stand together to denounce these attacks and call that people come forward with any information they have,” Hikind said. “There will be zero tolerance for hate crimes against either community. When caught, these individuals will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.”

Senator Eric Adams (D-Brooklyn) stated: “One of the greatest speeches in history was delivered by Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr., the man whose birthday we commemorate today. In that brilliant oration, Dr. King told us that he dreamt of a world in which blacks and whites would co-exist harmoniously. We meet now to demand that the future envisioned by Dr. King begin today.”

“I am simply outraged by this senseless attack,” said New York City Comptroller William C. Thompson, Jr. “We must work at every turn to fight against hatred and bigotry that threaten our communities. With a rise in racist and anti-Semitic incidents in our area over the past year, this interfaith coalition of clergy, community leaders and elected officials will work to confront bias crime as it occurs and foster dialogue and understanding. Expressions and actions of hate have absolutely no place in a civilized society.”

I grew up in Crown Heights. Getting smacked in the face by black children was the absolute norm of the day.

Don’t tell me that the cops do their jobs there. My brother personally watched them standing by during the Crown Heights riots while black people threw stones at him.

7:28 CH cops are not bad they’re sick and tired like all other cops of unappreciative people and the corrupt city council. When they deal with black perps they’re harassed and called racists and accused of racial profiling with Sharpton chasing them etc.

When they have to deal with Jews like a simple ticket, they’re are accused of being anti-Semites, Nazis and compared to SS. Both communities whether the black or Jews don’t really show much appreciation or have understanding of this job.

Besides Dov should have ran to the Chiefs in private who get the yearly $$$ in prizes from the community leaders in exchange for those parking plaques and other political bonuses.

7:6, you’re wrong. Maybe the cops are decent, honest, & do a great job where you live but in CH? No way!

While I understand how sensitive this incident may be, I want to remind the Jewish leaders that it’s not right to attack the NYPD like that. No Police Department in the country or even in Israel dedicates so much resources and effort to protect the Jewish community, especially the Orthodox community in NYC.

I have never heard a thank you to the police officers who freeze their butts of in the winter protecting that Synagogue on a corner street, because people brush it off as if it’s their duty and nothing else.

Crown Heights and many other neighborhoods are very tough and it was never easy for the NYPD to handle the crime waves. To blast the police department like that just hurts the morale of an average cop who does the job with passion regardless of people’s race, color, or religion.

Mr. Dov can blame his pal Mayor Bloomberg for cutting the NYPD’s force by such a large number over the years and decreasing the salaries of cops, who qualify for welfare to sustain their families.

As usual the politicians who are to blame for the city’s security because they’re the ones who control the budget of policing, are attacking the wrong people.

I was at the press conference today, and I have one thing to say about it: Politics at its best!
I live here; Eric Adams, Dov Hikend and Frank Vega do not!

I walk around here every daywith fear , looking over my shoulder with a can of pepper spry, which I doubt would help stop these blood sucking, anti-human, anti-Semitic imbeciles.
If it gets any worse here, it might well be more worth it to move to Gaza

Crown heights and the Jewish community, needs our own Sharpton!
