Dov Hikind comes to Crown Heights because he is close to Chanina Sperlin. I am convinced that Chanina Sperlin tries to do the right thing just as I think Barry Sugar has some good arguments. The CHJCC leadership has fallen behind the 8 ball because they have nobody there who knows how government works anymore. Sperlin is no longer part of the CHJCC leadership clic (while still member) but he has learned to use his contacts constructively. In or out of power, Sperlin has become a mentsch.
The NYPD has a problem, and the Commissioner knows it. He’ll likely tell Chief Esposito that there’s a problem in Crown Heights that needs to be fixed.
Whenever Hikind does something, good or bad, there are always the same comments (probably written by the same few grudge-nurses) about Dov.

It seems that there have been problems for months if not longer. Why does it only become an issue if it is someone from a known family?
As someone that drives down Nostrand Ave every day it seems the 71 has given people of color a message that illegal parking and blocking of rush hour traffic is OK, perhaps petty crime is also accepted.
I have to say, that I dont have a particular love for Dov Hikind, but this time he did the residents of CH good. See, its a darn shame that something like this had to happen to a BALKANY before anything was done about it. The Vad Hakohol of CH is very good at getting one thing photo ops. The 71 does not respect them, they step on them and weakness and pandering to a bunch of anti semitic thugs like Vega, and his cronies at the 71, does not get the frum world what they need. Barry Sugar a guy I know for years, as we grew up together, and I spent my shabosim afternoons by the same mutual friend he did, is someone who we need in the vad hakohol. See, he has become a force the NYPD is going to have to reckon with. I personally know and love the Balkanys, and have seen the chesed that they have done, and continue to do.
