We all know economic times are tough so our plan is to help with added savings throughout the year, focusing especially on what people want, when they need it,” said John Fleming, Wal-Mart’s chief merchandising officer.
In addition to the extra discounts on”thousands of products,” the retailer said it will offer no interest for 18 months on purchases of $250 or more with a Wal-Mart Credit Card. [AP]
“Their workers are so low paid, they are eligible for every gov’t benefit. The point of job creation, is to take people off the gov’t rolls.”
DO YOU REALY THINK THEY CAN GET WORKERS IN NYC AND PAY THEM LESS THEN McDONALDS
so let the best one win – are we here to stifel competition ? when depot came in to NYC they said all lumber yards are going to close , The opposite is true,
It is very shallow minded to think that they will close down all mom in pop stores ( that can happen in small town america) but NYC can afford to have mom and pop shops and WAL MART ( Costco is here as well )
But lets even take your argument that all mom and pop shop will close, The question you need to ask WHY WOULD THEY CLOSE – because they charge to much and no one will buy from them ,
Well who says that they have to charge me more, When i SAVE $100.00 by shopping at WM then i can do with MY money what I want , i can spend or save it , I dont have to CARE what the store owner needs to make – otherwise we should just all open small stores and charge the most we could – COMPETITION works and let the strongest win !!!!
BRING IN WALMART in NYC and you will also win
its a very simple reason. you may not agree but the if walmart moves in there goes all the mom and pop stores down the drain. So for example if you had a nice tub and tile shroom on coney island av for example, you can bet your boots it will close down within 1 plus years
….. because they harm local stores, and put many people out of jobs. Walmart is not good business. The effect on the local economy in many times is very negative. Their workers are so low paid, they are eligible for every gov’t benefit. The point of job creation, is to take people off the gov’t rolls.
oh –
but we dont want them here ( ask the politicans )
Can someone explain to me why in the brooklyn there is such a fight not to allow walmart or ikea to build a store ?
