The boys' alcohol-fueled vandalism stemmed from teenage boredom — not anti-Semitism, said the Middlesex County Prosecutors Office. "While it was plain that the juveniles intended to cause destruction, that intent appears without a religious hate component."

The boys all live within walking distance of the Poile Zedek cemetery on Joyce Kilmer Avenue, and had climbed the cemetery walls to systematically upended row after row of the granite stones, between two days. Some of the markers weigh more than a ton, and the teens spent up to four hours on the desecration.

Authorities have withheld the names of the boys, ages 15, 16 and 17. [nj.com]

People are too quick to comment when it is not their Father or Mother or Grandparents, Aunts and Uncles whom lay in the destruction..It is very hard to know that I can’t visit my Father when I need too, as others can’t visit their loved ones..These boys need to be taught a lesson and to show the ones who maybe thinking of doing this what will become of them if they do…I ask the courts to try them as adults and teach them respect and show them what can become of idle time..There is a difference of teenage mischief and severe hatred vandelism..It is time to teach them not a slap on the wrist. It is sad that I can not even publish my name in fear of hatred crimes but beware I will not tolerate hatred nor people who will not stand up to thugs and hatred crimes…Gods eyes will be upon you and we not back down and take this lightly.

We keep making light of teenagers’s horrific crimes and shocking repulsive behavior as ‘boredom-driven’ – these criminals need to be tried as adults and punished as such – otherwise, today’s vandals will likely become tomorrow’s drug-fueled murderers & sociopaths – what about the unimaginable hurt to the descendants of those whose resting places were desecrated?
