The decision to start an investigation, decided by a court in Torun, is a response to a complaint by a Polish Jewish organization against the anti-Semitic statements that were made by the priest.
He was quoted at a meeting with university students as accusing Jews of greed in a government compensation deal on confiscated property. and he also denounced Poland's President Lech Kaczynski as a "fraudster who is in the pockets of the Jewish lobby."
The priest has denied making the inflammatory remarks but a popular magazine claims to have a recording of his statements. [ejp]
If they are going to start locking up every Pole who says something anti-semitic they might as well put up a fence around Poland and toss out the few Poles who don’t want to see all of dead.
