Ramapo Town Police have arrested Ryan Karben, 33, of Monsey late last night after his car struck a utility pole on Brick Church Road.
Police said Karben managed to drive the car a short distance from the accident scene before stopping. He told officers that he hit the poll after swerving to avoid a deer.

Cops suspected Karben was under the influence, but he refused to take a chemical test to measure his blood alcohol level, Ramapo police Lt. Brad Weidel said, “when you refuse to submit to a chemical test, we have to take you before a judge,” Weidel said. They placed him under arrest for driving while intoxicated. No one was injured.

After being all night in town jail, Karben was arraigned this morning in Ramapo Town Court before Town Justice Arnold Etelson.
The jusdge ordered the cuffs to be removed and read the charges.
Karben asked for a copy of the charges and also told the judge that he was due to represent a client in an unrelated matter before him at 10:30 a.m., and asked for that case to be adjourned.
    Karben ordered released without bail.

On May 18, 2006, Karben unexpectedly announced his resignation from the New York Assembly. It was reported that Karben had been the subject of an internal legislative investigation, but he was never charged.

Now Monsey residents that voted for Karben over and over can be really ashamed of yourselves for voting in an unstable polotician, just like St. Lawrence. Oh thats right, it was the bloc votes!!!
