He said the rental Volkswagen Golf burst into flames after veering off the road and slamming into a bridge abutment by an overpass.
Police identified the victims as the driver, 19-year-old Bruno Vaccarezza of Cos Cob, Conn.; 19-year-old Fernanda Gomez and 18-year-old Juliana Restrepo, both of Port Chester, N.Y.; and 20-year-old Vincent Mendoza of Norwalk, Conn.
By the names, it is unlikely these were yiddeshe bochurim heading home for yom tov but the families of the niftar are still grieving. When we read of such a tragedy we should all be reminded that hashem controls all notwithstanding our careful planning.
Shkoiach shoiteh. Is your comment really necessary?
So, let me get this straight. A terrible tragedy occurs, innocents are killed, and I am supposed to say, “OK, that’s proof that God is running the world.”? In my opinion, the tragedy proves nothing. If we accept on faith that God is running the world, including every detail of everything that happens, then I don’t need a senseless horrible tragedy to remind me that God is running the world. Every time there is a tragedy, people post on this site that this shows that God is running the world, as if they have some kind of super connection to God. It is a smug and pointless comment that someone always makes whenever there is a tragedy and I think it is a very unpleasant way to be religious to think this way.
You know what this proves to me? That cars are more dangerous than guns.
