Poland – A 2004 stop in a cemetery on the outskirts of the Polish village Kszonzenice has caused former Israeli secret service agent Yaki Gantz to make more than one hundred additional trips to Poland, uncovering, along the way, the anonymous graves of Holocaust survivors buried in Christian cemeteries.

THE TIMES OF ISRAEL (http://bit.ly/IxkzPI) reports that, during his initial discovery, Gantz copied down the 45 anonymous numbers written on the gravestones, which he was then able to match to local records from 1945 showing that the 45 bodies were those of Jews who had been massacred nearby.
With the help of Yad Vashem, Gantz was able to identify 19 Jewish victims, who had fallen victim to the death marches, and who were simply left behind to be buried by local Christian residents.
What began as a post-retirement career for the 64 year-old Gantz, now finds him leading groups comprised of Jewish family members seeking to properly identify the graves of loved ones lost to the Holocaust.
“In every journey you discover more and more new details and the question of how it all happened only intensifies,” Gantz said.
