He at least needs a lawyer. Nobody should be facing these charges with only a public defender.

The guy converts orthodoxically in Kansas, comes to Lakewood and says that he shtams from Marranos, that he’s Jewish and doesn’t need giyur. Calls himself a Levi and takes levi aliyas. There is something not quite right here. The comment about wanting to belong to the syrian community is a nice try but the “gezaira” is in effect since about 1935 (unless that’s when it was renewed and reinforced) The Syrian community knows everybody, some having a yechus breev going back 1000 years. Try convince someone that your Syrian. Never happen. The guys story is contradictory from so many angles, I think we need to apply the following two standards.
Li’oilum yihay don odom l’kaf zchus. AND
    Atem kruim odom vilo…

For Geurus to be Kosher it needs more than just 1 person with Semicha.

For Gerus to be valid al pi Halacha, it requires a Beis Din of 3 Kosher Jews.

These 3 of the Beis Din, need to be 3 Kosher Jews who are Shomrey Torah Umitzvos.

No mention has been made what kind of Beis Din, this Rabbi of the conservative Temple, had used, for his conversion.

Virtually all congregants of every conservative temple are never Shomrey Torah Umitzvos and so are not considered to be kosher Jews and so they are not capable of performing a kosher Giyur.

Most often the people who attend a conservative temple, are Michalel Shabbos Befarhesiya and their wine is Yayayin Nesech and they are not Kosher L’Eidus.

How can a person whom you can’t be Metzaref to a Minyan and his wine is Yayin Nesech, how can such a person or such group of 3 make a halachicaly valid conversion.

    They can’t.

One of the 3 of this so called “beis din”, was the leader of the conservative temple, but who were the other two?

No one knows who the other two people were and most likely they were on a much lower level religiously, than their “rabbi” who was himself, not a kosher Jew, according to Daas Torah, by the mere fact that he headed his Conservative temple.

Same goes for Floyd wife if she was also converted by this same Rabbi of the conservative temple.

Floyd and his wife are both Goyim, Halachicaly and therefore all their children who learned in the best yeshivos are also Goyim.

If this same rabbi also married them, Floyd’s Marriage would also not be accepted by Israel Government not by any Rabbinical authority in Israel.

Israeli government does not recognize marriages performed by a Rabbi of a Conservative Temple.

    Mark,

We don’t Eliyahu to answer such a question:

    2 + 2 = 4 ?
    Eliyahu Hanavi, please answer.

This is simple stuff that every frum child knows that Giyur by a Rabbi of a Conservative Temple is invalid, Halachicaly.

Listening to the audio you will notice (3/4 way through the program) that the Rabbi admits that he is a Rabbi in temple where they “deven” with no Mechitza!

This Rabbi in Kansas admitted in this audio that he is the Rabbi of a conservative temple!

Most Rabbi’s of most conservative temples may be Orthodox in their private personal life but their acceptance of a job as a Rabbi in a conservative temple is obviously non-kosher, by the standards of anyone in Lakewood.

Everyone in Lakewood and the frum world, would never dare to ever walk into a Conservative temple, let alone daven there without a mechitza and never mind to to be a rabbi of such a conservative temple.

This Rabbi is a public chilul hashem by the fact that he is a Rabbi of a conservative temple where doing so is clearly against the Daas Torah of all Gedoley Yisroel in the entire frum world.

If this “Rabbi” goes against Halacha by leading a Conservative Temple, obviously he Giyur can’t be trusted.

If Floyd would come to Israel the official Rabbinate in Israel, would not accept him as a Jew, because it was done by a Rabbi of a Conservative Temple.

I gurantee you if Chabad was involved, there would be no questions. This is by no means disrepect to Rabbi Aloof. I just think this was way over his head. For all those who commented against, Joseph (from Brooklyn) all he wanted to know, was the facts. How does anyone know anything about Rabbi Aloof ? Has anyone who posted a comment been in Kansas ? There are so many discrepincies in this story. In my opinion it’s okay to question anyone.

I think Floyd did not reveal his geirus status because he wanted to be part of the Syrian community which rejects all geirim. Had he admitted this, his children would not have been admitted in the Sephardic yeshiva.

Joseph from Brooklyn should be ashamed of himself.

And the rabbi is realy someone I look up too, just because of the way he handels him.

Gotta say, the caller “interrogating” Rabbi Aloof lacks even a shred of derech eretz in him. The caller may have had a valid point – it remains to be seen, but a person is still to be addressed in a respectful and mentchliche manner. Especially a rov. Let us not forget that “derech eretz kodma la’torah.”

Maybe he felt that there was less of a stigma attached to being a BT than a GER.

Still we must remember that if he is a true Ger-Tzedek we are playing with a “LAV in the Torah”. (V’Ger Lo Soneh V’lo Silchotzeno {Shemos 22:20}) We are machmir with other Issurei Derabonon we should definitely be careful here, for this is an Issur De’orayso”.
We should realy think twice before we say anything negetive.

I was told that a few weeks ago a Rabbi in Lakewood asked a Rabbi in Deal whether he had any contacts in Kansas who could arrange for kosher food. Obvioulsy he is keeping kosher in Jail.
