Queens, NY – An undercover sting operation ended with sixteen airport taxi dispatchers being arrested and charged with illegally receiving cash bribes in a dispatch scheme happening at John F. Kennedy International Airport.

Apress release published by the Queens County District Attorney’s office states the defendants are accused of taking cash bribes to allow taxi drivers to cut in line and get ahead of other drivers waiting for passengers. With thousands of cabs passing through JFK terminals every day, drivers had the opportunities to make hundreds of dollars a day.
The drivers were employed by Port Authority of New York and New Jersey subcontractor Gateway Group One Frontline Services.
Taxis wait in a central holding area before being directed to the terminal taxi pickup section as needed for the arrival of incoming flights. Each driver gets a dispatch ticket with the date and time of exit when leaving the holding area.
The defendants are currently awaiting arraignment in Queens Criminal Court for charges of second-degree commercial bribe receiving, official misconduct and receiving illegal gratuities.
A million dollar undercover sting to net no convictions. Wow- what a waste of $$$. These people will get off with a thousand dollar fine.
