22 year old Gustavo Tapia of 333 Neptune Avenue was using a walk-behind electric forklift, trying to push a Yale forklift with a non-working rear wheel to the store’s rooftop parking lot, when the Yale forklift rolled backwards, pinning Tapia to the wall of the building.

An NYPD spokesperson told VIN News that they received a report of an unconscious male at 315 Avenue M at 5:50 this evening and that Tapia was almost at the crest of the parking garage ramp when the incident occurred.

EMS responded to the scene, transporting Tapia to Kings County Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

No one at the supermarket was available to comment on the incident.

Moisha’s parking ramp is the worst and most dangerous I’ve ever seen in my life, I’m surprised that it passed inspection at all.

Such a sad incident. Such a shame that a hard – working young man suffered such a horrible death. So horrible for the family as well.

Compensation and a Lawsuit on the horizon. Can’t say I blame them, although none of us know the circumstances of this tragedy

I hope they sue the pants off the owner. He has been warned about the danger of his forklifts

Forklifts should not be permitted outside of the store. Young children are constantly running around the supermarket . Adults too have to always maneuver their way around. Recently someone on 13th Av was hit by one.
