City Councilwoman Margaret Chin hopes the new law will fight the rat infestation NYC faces due to oozing garbage.
DNAinfo New York (http://dnain.fo/1nxricw) reports the bill will fine any restaurant found with leaky garbage. First offense will cost between $100 and $500. Second offense will be $500 to $600 and a third offense could cost restaurant owners anywhere from $700 to $900 in fines.
The Department of Sanitation would be in charge of administering the rule.
The bill only targets food and drink establishments. Chin’s office stated the bill focuses on restaurants because they are the biggest producers of garbage that attracts rats.
Several city restaurant associations say there are already fines in place for garbage problems on sidewalks and that a new bill won’t help the real problem.
This is absurd I have known way to many trafficking of inculcated wondering the same as you towards restaurants. It is not the garbage that disturbs our decency to infiltrate the stokes of our immediate vacancy. You’re asking what does this all mean well I have the same question cause the tickets will be here and will be there also even for all the freedom fighters of our wars to castigate in our memories the unforgettable truths of our garbage stinking stench for your generosity or your tenacity whatever you choose but will be won by us only
The mafia found another way to shake us down
The picture shows very clearly why bags leak out, you have people tearing them open looking for food!
And the DOS is not any better then the TLC. They tear open your garbage and recycling to make sure you are not mixing them, then they give you a ticket for the mess they made!
The way these government agencies make money is outlandish and disgusting. It is time to close ’em all down!
Mr Mayor how about installing catch basins on your garbage trucks. They squeeze all the juice out on the streets. Especialy in the summer its disgusting, and now I know they also bring out the rats.
There is one corner in my neighborhood which consistently has a huge smelly mess in front of it every morning. Obviously they don’t care about the neighborhood and deserve to be fined.
On the other hand, the streets would be a lot cleaner if the sanitation truck had brooms and shovels as they had years ago to be used by the sanitation workers when they spill garbage.
not good. another way to take away money from businesses and hard working people
14th betweed 43 and 44 is the dirtiest stretch of street litter in boro park.
And this Mayor ran under a platform that called for reduced restaurant fines. I guess they need to make up the revenue lost.
There is no science to the truth that restaurants garbage increases rats. The subways are full of rats and there is no restaurant garbage there. The bills own sponsor “City Councilwoman Margaret Chin hopes the new law will fight the rat infestation NYC faces due to oozing garbage.” Hopes?? And that’s the incompetent idiots running our city.
