The state Assembly has given final legislative approval to rename New York City’s Triborough Bridge, following Senate approval in April. Governor Paterson plans to sign the measure to call it the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge, a spokesman, Errol Cockfield, says. The bill memo notes “minimal budgetary impact” for the cost of changing signs.

The Triborough Bridge, opened in 1936, is actually a complex of three bridges, a viaduct, and 14 miles of approach roads. It connects Manhattan, the Bronx and Queens.

We are glad to see that the governor is real busy on seriuos issues.

Changing all the paper work for the ez pass and changing signs and other stuff will cost the city and state millions of dollars.

We would like to thank all our elected officials for working so hard on these important issues.

Nice to see they are going to do something with the extra money they are gaining in toll collections. It costs a lot of $$ to change all those signs, redo the maps, etc!

They could name it after all the government officials who have to resign because of scandal. Actually, not a great idea; they would be changing names every other day.

Because of his strong pro-Israeli policies, Sen. Kennedy was murdered by a Palestinian. I hope that if there is a ceremony for the renaming, the Jewish community comes out in droves.

Why do you show your ignorance with such foolish comments. I personally met him, he happens to be very bright, and he is already doing more than spitzer did with a few months in office.

    WAIT A COUPLE OF WEEKS……

Ted Kennedy is about to check out, and he certainly deserves a bridge to be named after him, leilu nishmas Mary kopekny!

but then again NY has so much $, so lets first call it the rfk bridge, and after all the new signs are up, they could rename it again.

This is absolutely incredible when you think about it. Oil prices, toll cost, wars and we have a group of people such as Errol Cockfield, saying in bill memo notes “minimal budgetary impact” for the cost of changing the signs! When will this kind of nonsense end?

Can we compromise and co-name it in the year 2112 and have some massive meetings about doing it then, instead?

Imagine being so out of it, so out of touch with it all, you would ever consider such a change in the first place, like nothing is going on around you at all.
