Israel – A 14-year-old girl from Beitar Illite was taken to the Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Jerusalem after an unknown person spilled acid on her face, legs and stomach, causing light burn wounds.

The act has been attributed to a representative of the so-called ‘modesty guard’ in this town where religious and secular residents are increasingly at bitter odds.
MDA received the call just before midnight on Wednesday and paramedic Dror Eini who arrived on the scene to treat the girl also managed to calm her down enough so she could explain what had happened.
Eini told Ynet that “the modesty guards have been threatening her for quite some time.” According to the paramedic the focus of the threats has largely been the victim’s 18-year-old sister and some suspect the attacker mistook the younger girl’s identity for that of her older sister’s.
Eini said the teenager was in a difficult emotional state: “She cried the whole way to the hospital, partly because she was in pain but mostly because she was terrified.” According to Eini at the time of her attack the girl had been wearing loose-fitting long pants and a short-sleeved shirt.
“If she would have been wearing the same thing in Jerusalem or in Tel Aviv, she would not have stuck out in any way,” he added.
An ultra-Orthodox teen from Beitar Illite who is in contact with the girl’s family spoke with her sister who described the incident. According to the boy, the attacker stopped the girl and first asked her for directions. Then, after confirming her surname, he spilled a bottle of acid on her.
The girl was released from the hospital on Thursday and the police sent samples of the liquid she was attacked with for analysis.
Do we get to spill acid on those who carry on Shabbos? Oh wait, that would mean we carry on Shabbos. For those who couldn’t figure out the connection between Shabbos and Tznius with directions – if you can be mechallel Shabbos to perserve Shabbos, can you be mechallel Hashem to be mekaddesh Hashem?
We are sue this girl will want to be frum now.
What a great kiruv thing to do.
If spilling acid really worked on making people more frum everyone owuld be doing it!
The people who spoilled the acid on this girl should have their hands and feet chopped off in a public square.
This story is making the world headlines and gives the entire klal yisroel a bad name.
This is totally disgusting and nebach on the parents and mechanchem who condone such behavior of these cowards.
What a chilul hashem! Schmucks are just like the **** wahabis trying to enforce sharia on people.
The influence of our Talibanisten is getting worse. This is a criminal act of horrible cruelty. I agree with 12:57’s ideas of punishment. Name & Shame!!
With people like this I’m embarrased to be a frum Jew. Torah is Perfect.
I am sorry that I will disagree with some but;
1, words can not explain all the thoughts. The sick minds behind this must be perverts. Normal people are not so upset by seeing a girls that they would do such harm.
2, The harm that could be done could lead to blindness and burning of the skin that can lead to permanent scars. I agree that cutting off hand and feet would be a start.
If the story is true and it is the way they write it, Then oiy vey we are really in deep trouble. the orthodox and ultra orthodox need to wake up and find out how we are going so wrong.
is this what we are being tought? I dont think so!!!
Boruch, This tragic craziness was not done on Shabbos. It was a Wednesday.
Not to say this crazy act was okay, it obviously is horrific, but, the perpetrators may have thought to damage her clothes not realizing it would harm her. Some of them are not very educated. Some jerk may have heard that acid ruins clothes, and thought to ruin the non tznius clothing.
Either way, it is a very wrong thing to do, but there may have been no intent to physically harm her.
They probably did want to hurt her. These nut cases are in Brooklyn too. They think they can do whatever they want. They feel as if they were trained to use certain technichs to enforce Hashem’s laws. But one of Hashem’s laws is not to act this way.
right…’no intent to harm’…how far can you take ‘Dan L’chaf Z’echus’?…Could be that the 9/11 highjackers just lost their way and accidentally hit the WTC…
Even if it turns out it was lemon juice–the intent was to terrorize.
These are the same people who protect the rabbi child molesters because they need to be Dun Lekav Zechus. It really isn’t molesting unless X happened and it is not possible that a rabbi did that.
Why so much anger? why so much anger
dont forget we are all jews, with hatered we dont get anywhere. Cutting off hands and feet is just getting back at them with the same acts of violance. that means we are not much better.
for our cause its okay to be violant.
common lets be smart.
Take a deep breath and think
Dont get me wrong this is dispicable and must be condoned.
maybe its time we teach them something in a possitive fashion
okay let me not sound like a geek
This is a complete embarassment and Chillul HaShem. What’s next, honor killings? Yidden, we are not animals, we cannot be influenced by the animal forces around us. Just as you would fight like mad to not be influenced by “popular culture” so too we cannot be influenced by the corrupt and sick culture of the Mideast and Arabs. We are the light unto the world, act like it.
The people that belong in the “modesty guard” whether in israel or anywhere else in this world are people who dont truly beleve in g-d & our torah. I for one have much greater respect for a jew that eats bacon & goes to shul only on rosh hashona & yom kippur than these people who think they are g-d. We must wake up and confront this before its too late.
Terrible, humiliating chilul Hashem.
The biryonim have taken over…
the poor girl who is now tramatized will have only contempt for the frum Jews…and hopefully he will acknowledge his wrong and apologize to her (way) before yom kippur.
V haser Satan milfaneinu u meachareinu!
From the meshagayim on the right and on the left
About time the people on this site react appropriately to a horrible situation. I was almost expecting to read the comments and see people condoning the act.
The Jewish nation is in a sad state. Historically, forever and ever the Jewish cycle is the same. So much of our suffering and sorrow unfortunately, begins with us and our lack of working together to be one cohesive unit.
Extremism is horrible and never works. Yes, saying to chop off ones hands and legs is horrible and the same as throwing acid at someone…. I just cant think of a different solution. The extreme right, just as Right Islam and Christianity is close minded and not willing to listen to reason.
That quality is what is so alarming and is the cause of so much resentment and hatred leading to comments such as “cutting off an arm.”
How would you deal with terrorism and extremism? Logic never works. In a way, this is the same. How do you change people that are not willing to talk or listen? People that are not willing to listen to logic and reason…..
Sad Sad State.
one thing I definetly dont agree with is those who take this to exreme
The ones that say they are embarresed to be a frum jew
or they respect the one who eats bacon
cu’mon
you gotta be normal – respect the ones who follow what Hashem really wants from us
We need to be respected Jews that fulfuill all of the torah commandment not just some – and as long as you are respectfull the Torah was given as whole not partly
we have a chance to except it again the right way next week tusday
1:47, if it was your daughter you would be plenty angry too. Ais Lachashos V’ais Ledaber.
Where’s the kol korei??????
WHAT A MASSIVE CHILLUL HASHEM !!
these hot headed leshaym shomayim chevra belong in the israeli army let them go pur acid in gaza!!
get these “goons” off the street
they should be found and put in jail nowhere does the torah teach to pour acid on those who arent brought up charedi shame on these so called frum zealots who put a stain on all frum people!!
those that harbor and cover for these beasts, are no less responsible for this Chilul Hashem than the perpetrators. You are right – where are the kol korais on the subject? Or are the Rabbonim also scared of these animals?
By the way, this all starts with the idiots screaming “Shabbos” on the streets – as if the word “Shabbos” was a curse word chalila
anon 1:29 – of course the intent was to harm her!!
Rabbosai, PEOPLE WHO ACT LIKE THIS RE NOT ORTHODOX!! THEY ARE NOT FRUM – THEY ARE KRUM!!
Don’t hold your breath for a “kol korei”…
2:23
I’m not saying that I’m better< all I said is we should work on ourselfs a bit
including myself
they did a horrific act but does not mean we are aloud to be in Kaas (anger)
show tollorance
Oh please this is obviously not representative of Chareidi Yidden. just a couple of LUNATICS like the renegade “Neturei Karta” the difference is that here they broke the law and hopefully will be caught and prosecuted to the full extent of the law. Maybe if we are lucky they will first be found by a vigilante “Vaad” that don’t appreciate these thugs preying on innocent girls. They’ll know what to do – maybe an acid mikva ?
“The act has been attributed to a representative of the so-called ‘modesty guard’”
I think all the condemnations of the Modesty Guard” people are premature. No one has identified the perpetrator yet.
He is obviously a terrible person, or maybe he’s a nutcase, who thinks he’s doing something heroic.
He certainly doesn’t represent Hareidim, and his misdeeds do not justify this hareidi-bashing extravaganza.
Poor? girl?
There are clear large signes at all entry points, pleading with people visiting the frum neigborhoods, to please weare modest clothing. It is ironic that goiym are very understanding.
This should not be a defense for such horrible acts, it is just to understand the chilonim are not so inocent all the time all the places.
such insanity a religious persom who becomes tottaly insane what kind of upbringing did he get can anyone tell me?
To Anon 2:58
You are just as sick as the one who threw the acid
Atleast she wont be able to be Machshil Yidden with “Re’yois Asirois” anymore, may that be a Zechus for her Refueh, and lets be Mispalel that she should do Teshuveh! Amen
Anon 2:58 “Poor? girl?”
You are so quick to condemn the victim as not being innocent and doing this bedafke.
Maybe she doesn’t have any other tznius clothes
and doesn’t believe that she can be dictated to by Chareidim as to what to wear.
Yes – Poor Girl – nebech she was not zoiche to grow up with frum values and Poor Girl the chances of her ever becoming frum has probably
gone down to zero along with all her friends and
thousands of other chilonim. Poor girls and boys.
Please don’t think this is crazy. I was on a blog discussing modest clothing. I am always looking for good ideas of where to shop and save money.
Someone posts that we should all wear a full skirt and long sleeved top or dress UNDER our outer dress because “she” read that it was required.
Then in another post the same user writes that we should check our shoes to make sure that they do not make sound when we walk.
I thought this was crazy and some other bloggers said so. A few days later I was on an anti missionary blog and they were discussing Christian missionaries who post absurd standards of tznius to Jewish blogs as part of their goal to make Judaism too hard to keep.
They figure they will turn people away and in the next generation get their kids as Christians.
I searched the blogs for this “noisy heels stuff” and found the same post on several modest clothing blogs.
Is it possible that it is not Jews who are doing this awful thing??
There ARE many Xtian missionary training seminaries in Bnai Brak, that is where they go to learn to look and act Jewish.
We never heard of this crazy stuff 20 years ago. Isn’t it weird that we are seeing so much of it now??
When are the rabbonim going to call a huge prayer meeting and fill up the entire Mea Shearim and Geula begging Hashem to forgive for horrible acts of acid attacks and child abuse? If we allow these things to go on and make to effort to uproot it, then it is worse for the community than a “Gay Parade” every day.
Congratulations reb yid. You saved us from a short sleeve shirt. However, you also caused hundreds (if not thousands) of Jews who are otherwise on the fence about becoming frum to decide not to adopt our lifestyle with this “craziness.” So, in saving us from a short sleeve shirt, you have caused countless amounts of Chillul Shabbos, eating treif, and general non-observance of the mitzvos. If even one person becomes non-observant (or chooses to not adopt observance) of the mitzvos because of this, it is far too heavy a price to pay.
The Wolf
This act was definitely NOT instructed or done by the “modesty guards”, any of these organizations would never ever allow violence and doing harm to a human, especially a minor.
This act was definitely carried out by some psycho that was just released from a psychiatric ward.
If this story is true, the nut who did this should learn from a story about the Lubavitcher Rebbe.
It goes something like this: A young girl (not frum) decided to visit the Rebbe during Sunday Dollars. She was not dressed appropriately. When it was her turn, the Rebbe gave her a dollar, and he said to her: Next time you come, I will give two dollars only if you dress like a daughter of Yisroel should. Well, she did, and from what I have been told, she is married with children, living a frum life.
Using hate and violence will not bring a Yid closer. It will only cause them to become more distant. What a shame.
The same climate that protects cgild molestors and wife abusers, encourages rock throwing and blames the victim ultimately leads to throwing acid
this is an act that has to be condemed. for those that have any knowledge of the VAAD HATZNIOS in Israel. they are a group of terrorists that HIT, HURT, INJURE AND KILL other jews. They hide under the word TZNIUS but they are not FRUM OR Erlich. i have been involved in one incident where they came in an appartment and started hitting and injuring the people that were there. we had to run for our lives but those that ended up in thier hands had to go the hospital and were very badly injured.
they were caught and later arrested. i hope who ever did this gets what he deserves.
If this young man was part of this modest guard then he should start guarding his own community of all the inmodesty that goes on there especially men who are pedophiles and pour acid on there body parts as a reminder that G-D did not create there body parts to be used as a weapon and ruining young children lives.
What a huge aveyra this idiot has executed – clothing may be changed but your skin is for your lifetime. There is a huge problem of improper education (many are in 4th century) in the Haredi world and the ‘major’ gedolim Rabonim should address it – there are many yeshivot run by unqualified Rabbanim teaching shtuss there are also too many Haredim with too much time on their hands – it leads to creating a false-jewish taliban of intolerance. One stupid act creates many problems – these idiots must be ostracized by the community as well – throw them out of your shul and your makolet – do not assist them in any way – unless they enter the current universe.
By the way 4 hundred years ago most men wore skirts and women wore pants so these idiots should leave women alone and wear kilts.
must be an insine person..who else walks around with acid?
See story about Kiyyas Yoel and you understand how this begins…. Children are taught to hate from an early age…
It would be better if we taught our children how to learn then how to throw stones.
This disease affects litvisha, and cahssidesha alike,
What a Chillul Hashem! I guess the phase “don’t judge Judaism by the Jews,” meaning the actions of some Jews, applies here.
did the attacker /does he have an affiliation with Chen?
The weaker one’s relegious convictions and beliefs are, the more one feels threatened by “others” non compliance.
You will never see a Rosh Yeshiva or serious Jew get angry by another jew’s non observence, instead they will display profound sadness at anothers jew’s misdirection.
To anon.: 1:19,
You’re embarrassed to be a frum Jew?! The only way you could be embarrassed if this is your definition – A person who dresses frum is frum. I define a frum Jew by their actions, not by what they look like. I am not embarrassed by these people because they are not frum; if they want to cover up let them wear a kaffiya!
If this was done it is a terrible thing. However, I find it an interesting coincidence that the medic who treated the girl is named Dror Eini. Dror means freedom, and Eini may mean Eini – Ein Ani – I am not free [because of the “Modesty Patrol”] or Eini – Einiyim Sheli – My Eyes – My eyes should have freedom to look at whatever they want.
With such a coincidence on the name I wonder if this was not a setup.
BTW – when was the last time you confused a 14 year old with her 18 year old sister?
