The album is slated to hit stores in the next week or two. It will boast 14 song which of course will include the famous “WAKE UP” song though it might sound a little different. Lipa wanted every song to be fresh so he went back into the studio and “re worked” the song with new arrangements and choir.

Lipa is also working on a website www.lipaschmeltzer.com though there is no date as to when the site will go live [No ban from Rabbonim on his web site?] below is the interview by Yossi Zwieg the editor of the magazine, and a short video clip on you tube

The idea behind ANY album in today’s day and age is to bring “message”, while making people happy. You know Yossi the first time we had a interview it was easy, you had my biography and you ask why I made a album. Now we are like 6 or 7 albums later it’s not such a simple question, but basically I can say Success is the key to success. B”H far deim. My most successful album (as far as sales are concerned) was Keinainhora. Now there are a lot of people that have their own opinion that maybe that album wasn’t their most favorite, but it sold the most. This album we have a wide variety of style and talent and a lot of creativity.

I have a song from there one and only Yossi Green, the famous “Wake Up” song that was all over the internet which shows you how the internet based PR works today. EVERYONE had this song. By the way I am making a new website. The url is LipaSchmeltzer.com. I didn’t do it until now cause I don’t want to show that I support the internet. But being that people took this song and put it on the internet and seeing many people were requesting the song at simchas and knew of it, therefore I know I had to be up to date and reach as many people as I could. And believe you me, that if the Askanim knew how strong it is (the internet) and how many people have it today, they would ask me every week to make a farbreigen or cd , so that there could be some source of kosher entertainment. Yossi let me put you on hold to make Havdoula for my family… (Lipa singing Cerlebach’s Henei Kel).

Okay where were we? Right! Since that was the case I went back into the studio and re-invented the song so it should be new to people should not say I hear that already. New Choir and music, I spent about a extra $6,000 on re doing the song. Pinky Webber who is a shtick haartz has a song called U’Befrat Al Yoshvei Eretz Yisroel about the matzav in Eretz Yisroel unfortunately today and in Chutz Loretz. The song will mammash bring you to tears, and I think people will be able to relate to it.

Motty Ilowitz a newcomer and rising star and a very good friend of mine, composed a song for me called Yenner about people who are always living for other people. Stop living for someone else’s expectations and live for yourself and up to your standards and don’t worry about what everyone else is gonna say. I think it’s a amazing song. Moti wrote the lyrics as well as the composition. What an amazing message!

I have another song composed by Rabbi Hillel Palai which is called Ochilo L’okel Achaleh Ponov. Its already being sung in yeshivos in Eretz Yisroel by about 3,000 bochurim between a few yeshivous. So on one hand I was reluctant to buy the song as it was out there already. After I thought about it a little I said Aderaba, I want songs to attract yeshiva boys and families, to give them something to sing about. So I bought the song. Its extremely hartzig. When I was preparing myself to sing this song I tried to visualize myself standing Beyemois Hamoshiach to sing it before Hashem like I was a shliach tzibbur and I don’t feel worthy I’m a nobody. I start Ochilo L’okel I don’t know what to say Achaleh Ponov I turn away in shame Eishalo Mimenu I ask of you to teach me Manne Loshon teach me what to say to thank you. Moishe Lox another great friend of mine, who composed Zechor on Keinainhora and Hashem Zochruni from my Hallel album wrote another great song for me . He gave me a composition with interesting idea, and I gave it to Bella Levitan (Abie Rotenberg Daughter) who wrote the word to Shwekey’s Shema Yisroel and more. She took Moish’s idea came up with some very emotional English lyrics for me. This is the first time for me to attempt to sing a English song on a album and it’s very special.

Meyer Dovid Forkosh from Forkosh Tallessim gave me a idea years ago for a song called Shelo Osani Goy. He wanted to make a album a few years ago and commissioned me to create this song. I was so in love with the song when I was finished creating it that I asked him if I could have it back, and he agreed. I am very thankful to him. I added English lyrics to parts of this song because in today’s day you have to help Klal Yisroel and cater to the crowd this way EVERYONE will be able to enjoy the song.

I am trying to have more variety on this album, some songs for Chassidim, Yeshivishe, etc. This album has more commercial songs that are sing able whether for Kumzits or just a good time. I want people to enjoy the work that went into the production. A lot of people told me that it’s great to listen to my songs but would be better if they can be sung too. So now I made a extra effort to make them sing able.

Gideon Levine composed a song and I had seyato deshmaya to write the lyrics based on everything from what I learnt. Gideon and I have been friends for years, as he knows me since I was a kid. Every time I work on a album Gideon is involved somewhere. He recently moved GYL studios to Flatbush so there should be more privacy for Artists so we worked over there. Gideon is the Best of the Best. Talk about studio’s I used so many in creating this album.

Lets see, Yossi Tyberg, I owe him so much he is a BIG producer of the new generation. He has dynamic ideas of how to create music and just bring new things to the table. He also has Hachnosos Orchim like no one else. You mammesh feel at home. Oh! It’s also a studio. He helped me out immensely.

Mo Kiss! What can I say about the crazy talented Mo Kiss. He is such a piece of art like no one else. I told Mo after we finished recording that we have to find excuses even after the album to come into the studio and work together. We both “supposedly” live in Monsey except that I live in Airmont and he lives in Pamona and from my house to his is about a 2 hr walk, but it pays every step.

I also recorded by other friends like Shloime Zeiger and by Mendy Wertzberger. Once I am discussing all these names I can’t leave out Sheya Mendlowitz who has always been there for me with advice and without him I wouldn’t be where I am today. I don’t know how to thank him.

I have a song composed by Yitzchok Fuchs from Israel in which he sung a duet with me.

I also have a song in which some of my chaverim in the business appear on for a word or two. One of them is the rising star from England my friend Shloime Gertner who even to sing one word went out of his way. Of course if Shloime was in the studio its probably cause Gershy Moskowitz dragged him there in the first place. Rabbi Bentzion Shenker also has a line on that song. Yehuda Green who is rapidly gaining fame even in Williamsberg is also featured on the song. Where Yehuda is in the studio Aaron Zutler is bound to be at his side, so thanks to them both. Sholi Grossman and Yitzchok Landau from Monsey also helped me out immensely, we were like a team. A Poushete Yid and the whole concept of the album was with the ideas and lyrics of Sholi Grossman. They are crazy talented, and whenever we sit together something crazy comes up. Landau’s brother in law named Blumenberg also opened a new studio in Monsey where I recorded to. I hope I’m not leaving anyone out. I have a song that discusses all the ages and that is the song where all these guests are featured. Even Eli Gerstner recorded his younger brother for the song. Naftoli Moishe Schnitzler from Williamsberg (Michoels nephew) also has a studio and recorded some chassidishe children for that song. He helped me with the album too. For Shemoina Esrei I recorded Sholi. For Esrim I recorded Shimmy Engel (Oorah finalist) for Shloishim Shloime Gertner, Arboim Yehuda Green, Chamishim Yossi Green, Shishim I have my uncle Yankel Unger who is a big famous Baal Tefillo, Shivim I have chazzan Lipshitz from Monsey who lives in my neighborhood, and for Shemoinim I have Reb Ben Tzion Shenker. So you see the album has very much variety.

Behind the whole album even though I have produced it myself I would say that he almost co produced. He is the only person I wouldn’t argue with and that’s Illya Lashinsky. He alone can handle the music without me there and you can hear it in the mix. This album would not have happened without Illya. He is the only guy I give the key to and tell him to make it sound better.

For arrangers I have Hershy Ginsberg from England who is very unique to give it something different. From Israel I have Mona, Ruvi Banet and Moishe Roth and he is a rising star. For the song Ochilo L’okel alone, he put in 100 hours, and it shows. Naftoli Yosef Mendlovitch from Monroe who is very talented, made the music for Shelo Osanoi Goy. Mendy Hershkovitz who came into the studio for Poshiter Yid and made the chords so nice so that it has a good sound but that you can hear the words ( of course he brought his and my friend Avrumi Schreiber). They are from the Freilach band. Who else arranged? Illya Lashinsky of course. Before I finish I have to thank again Motty Ilowitz who besides composing helped me out a lot and was a integral part of this album. While we speak he is finishing the inside cover. I hope I didn’t forget anybody, I wanna thank all of you for your support. My final message is that some people are here to teach Torah and Lipa Schmeltzer is here to make people happy, that’s why I am here. It’s my Shlichos.

I hope Jewish Insights should become very successful and matzliach and I want to be part of Jewish Insights and part of making every Jewish home… As a Poshete Yid!

No offense but this video is not exactly the most jewish thing.

It’s shocking that the people who banned the big event are not banning this video.

The video is very distasteful and very goyish.

Lipa is amazing, but a little piece of advise. i think he should stop being a performer just a singer, that’s the only reason people are upset , if he just sings and stops making video’s and the rest of the stuff people won’t be so upset.

don’t get me wrong i’m a big fan of him.

No bad feelings towards lipa personally great guy with talent but my gosh those songs are horrible the only half decent ones are the ones he steals from the radio he steals and chaps from the 50’s all the way up to latest pop the problem is the goyim do it a lot better are more talented vocally and musically so let’s stop pretending his songs are good there chasidish yonchy nebach desperatley trying to copy the real talent in the world music industry not to mention his face now that’s a scarey thought.this goes for most of the heimishe music bad voices cheap gigs and a lot of stolen melodies do they really think the jewish consumer is stupid.

You seem to know VERY little about music if you think these are 50s style songs….

Well done for not writting your name – to avoid embaresment.

Jewish music IS very behind with latest trend but LIPA brings it forward at a modorate pace.

What do you define as a good song???

I – and most people i know – define a good song one that excites people, people sing at their simchas and time of joy, on that entertains.

Its subjective to whats nice or not. As long as the m,elodies don’t change key, rhythm, timming and structure every few bars it’s not a bad song.

So you know what… Go with the flow… MOST people like LIPAs songs, singing and music…. so keep your jelousness to your internal self.

    🙂
