Democratic Queens Councilman Tony Avella called on the state legislature Wednesday to pass a bill banning the forced feeding of birds to make their livers fatty.

Avella said it concerns a national issue that involves the inhumane treatment of animals.

“They force a metal pipe down the animal’s throat,” said Avella. “They use compressed air to blow food into the animal’s stomach. And we’re not just talking about a normal food supply that the animal might feed themselves. We’re talking about five to 10 times more food.”

The bill would not ban eating foie gras.

Avella says the issue was brought to him by a student at Columbia, who showed him undercover video from two farms in New York State.

This would make NY as big a joke as the Chicago alderman who passed a similar ban. They came to their senses and repealed it.

Let the Queens councilperson be more worried about the city where he was elected to serve. If he needs any stupid left wing wakko laws made he should talk to the Blooming Idiot Mayor.

Standing up to prevent cruelty and unnecessary suffering, wherever it occurs, should be applauded.

Do we have so little compassion that we cannot spare even a little for vulnerable animals that cannot defend themselves?

THE FACTS ARE CLEAR JUST BY SEEING THIS ONE PICTURE OF TERRIFIED DUCKS HUDDLING IN THE CORNER TOGETHER LOOKING THE OTHER WAY AFRAID OF THE PAIN THEY KNOW THEY ARE ABOUT TO FACE YET AGAIN BY FORCE FEEDING THEM. THERE ARE NOT ENOUGH WORKERS AND TIME TO TRULY CARE FOR EACH INDIVIDUALS’ BIRD’S FORCED FEEDING EXPERIENCE 3 TIMES PER DAY AND THIS IS WHY AUTOPSIES EXPOSE BIRDS WITH RIPPED UP ESOPHUGUSES AND SO MUCH CORN MEAL FORCED INTO THEIR BODIES THAT THE PRESSURE ON THEIR LUNGS CAUSES THEM MASSIVE RESPIRATORY DISTRESS AND AN INALBILITY TO EVEN STAND UP ON THEIR LEGS DUE TO THE MASSIVE OVERFEEDING. IF IT WERE AN EXPERIENCE SIMILAR TO WHAT FOIE GRAS EXCUSERS DESCRIBE AS THE “NATURAL” HOARDING UP FOOD PRIOR TO MIGRATION, THEY WOULD NOT BE TERRIFIED IN THE CORNER LOOKING AWAY. INSTEAD THESE BIRDS DO NOT GET THE CHANCE TO MIGRATE AND THEY DO NOT DECIDE HOW MUCH FOOD TO STORE UP. THIS IS OUR RATIONALIZATION BY TRYING TO COMPARE SICK HUMAN FORCE FEEDING TO MAKE A BIRD SICK SO WE CAN EAT A DELICACY. IT IS NOT AT ALL THE SAME AS THEIR MIGRATION ROUTINE.

AS A JEW, I AM SICKENED BY THE LACK OF EMPATHY BY MY FELLOW JEWS IN THE COMMENTS ON THIS BLOG. IF YOU CANNOT HAVE EMPATHY FOR ANIMALS WITHOUT A VOICE, AND IN THIS CASE GENTLE PREY ANIMALS, YOU HAVE MISSED THE BOAT COMPLETELY ON BEING A LOVING AND RESPECTFUL HUMAN BEING. AS FOR PETA, THANKFULLY THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO HAVE EMPATHY FOR SENTIENT BEINGS WITHOUT A VOICE. WE ARE LIVING WITH OTHER SPECIES AND DO NO HAVE ANY RIGHT TO ABUSE THEM FOR OUR USE! PERIOD. END OF QUESTION.

THE PRODUCTION OF FOIE GRAS IS HORRIBLY CRUEL AND INHUMANE. THE BIBLE TEACHES THAT EVEN ANIMALS USED FOR FOOD ARE TO BE TREATED HUMANELY. ISRAEL IS ONE OF THE COUNTRIES THAT HAS BANNED FOIE GRAS.

The issur of tz.b.ch. is only if it’s done for no reason. If it’s done for a purpose, like for something we want, there’s no issur (Shulchan Oruch, Even HoEzer 5:14 at the end in the Rama).
