New York State Electric & Gas still has 3,700 without power, most of them in the Sullivan County communities of White Lake, Smallwood, Swan Lake and Jeffersonville. Utility spokeswoman Brenda Patton said repair crews are going to try to have them back late on Thursday, but it’s likely some will have to wait until Friday.

They’re fighting a lot of toppled trees in these heavily wooded areas.
The utility will be offering dry ice and bottled water at the White Lake firehouse on Route 17B today.

The outages are significantly reduced from a peak of 34,000 Wednesday following a series of violent thunderstorms.
