Conover, WI – Camp Claims Recent Shipment Of Meat From Rubashkin Is Two Years Old.

    Conover, WI – JTA is reporting that a group of Midwestern Jewish conservative camps returned a shipment of kosher meat from the embattled slaughterhouse Agriprocessors.

    Camp Ramah Wisconsin received a shipment that a source said was two years past its expiration date. Camp Interlaken, a JCC camp in Wisconsin, received meat dated “late last year,” according to operations director Jonah Levenburg.

    The two summer camps are part of a consortium that purchases foodstuffs together to get preferred prices. The consortium returned the meat to Agriprocessors and told its agent, H&H Purchasing Services of New York, to find alternate sources of kosher meat.

    “We made the decision to collectively return the meat so as to ensure the safety of our children and the food product that we prepare and serve,” Levenburg told JTA, adding that the decision had “absolutely nothing” to do with the recent controversy over Agriprocessors’ labor practices.

    it’s not rubashkin’s fault that the distributor is sending old product. The distributor was probably sitting on it and just waiting for a live one to dump it on. I am pretty certain as a business person who has preformed audits of food service company’s that rubashkin itself was not sitting on 1 and 2 year old product. there stuff ships out to distributor most likely within 30-90 days. so blame the distributor who is giving them such a great deal on their collective purchases. what other products did they get from their distributor that was out dated? Pasta, cereal, rice, flour, etc….

    It is a mitzvah to ensure that Jews eat kosher meat.

    EVERY JEW regardless of his background or affiliation.

    I hope that kosher food purveyors will step in to ensure that Jewish campers will have ample kosher provisions this summer.

    my friend bought a rubash toungue from a chain food store here in ny and it was 20 monthes old. Absolutely discussting

    H & H is a purchasing agent. He takes the orders and the manufacturer ship drop ships the product.

    If meat is held at zero degrees, it can last without any problems for 12-16 months. At 50 degrees, is it less. At 10 degrees, 8 months. Chicken and fish are different standards.

    Now that we got this out of the way, who is telling the truth and who is lying to besmirch other Yidden?

    It is highly unlikely that Rubashkin needs to

    keep frozen stock for such a long time as they

    can hardly keep up with demand due to their

    very competetive pricing.

    In the unlikely event that this is even true (that it was recently shipped from Rubashkin not pulled from some other distributer’s storage etc.)

    I’m the opposite, I am VERY particular about the supervision on my meat and wine.

    Why DID KAJ remove their supervision of Rubashkin?

    Is it possible that the meat was just misprinted with the wrong date? Like one of the new workers (who replaced the ones who were arrested) did not operate the date stamp correctly and printed the wrong date? I really doubt ANY meat has been sitting around since last year….

    Also- those conservatives are looking for any excuse to switch to Ztedek….these are trumped up charges…

    Is it at all possible that the labeling date machine was yes worling very well and it was indeed the correct date but you will never fess up to such an ocurrance?

    The hechsher is top quality. and that’s why they have an open door policy for any visitor/guest/rabbi who would like to visit the plant. if there was anything that they were trying to hide they would not have asked me to give hundreds of tours to guest, rabonim etc.

    KAJ’s leaving the company had nothing to do with kashrus. make 1 phone call to them and they’ll tell you the same.

    stop waisting your time reading the news from a bunch of people who don’t have a clue of what is really happening over there. do your reserch from the right people before you are ready to take part of chas v’sholom helping to hurt a yidishe company that supplies klal yisroel with AFFORDABLE meat and poultry, besides for all the chesed that we know the rubashkin family does and for all that we don’t.

    I can tell u first hand that you are being untruthful to yourself as well as to the people reading this blog.

    Instead of covering up these issues why dont you try and convince Rubash. to fix some of the major problems which got them into trouble in the first place and maybe then we will begin to trust them again but covering up the obvious is just going to prove to the world that you have no inytentions of doing anything. Changing the CEO means squat , ziltch . Its all a cover up.

    If so, you are nogea b’davar. First tell everyone who you are and then we can proceed.

    You do not address anything new.

    What does your ‘eidus’ have to do with the fact that Rubashkin sent out meat that was 2 years old? Were you there on the shipping dept when it was shipped out? Otherwise, stand on the side and speak when you have something truthful to say.

    If the hechsher was so good, why did Rabbi Weismandl DOUBLE the amount of mashgichim that were there before? What was it that he wanted to catch?

    I am not going to waste my time arguuing with people who are not looking for the trooth but only looking to get involved in distrying a yidishe company. And for those of you who are inocent and are not looking to do the latter but are disturbed reading all the articles, do yourself a favor and find someone who has ties to a mashgiach, shochet or one of the rav hamachshirim and ask them all the questions in the world and you’ll have all the correct answers.

    I am not trying to hide my identity but as a working person I don’t have the time to answer questions all day, aspecialy since alot of people out there are not looking to hear the trooth, unfortunatly.

    but I was asked from friends of mine to please write a few words to those people who are really worried and concerned.

    Just a few points.

    1) think twice if it makes sense that rubashkin had a meth plant somewhere in this company, when in the same company you have a crew of maybe 25 USDA GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES working on premesis around the clock. Rubashkins is not a small butcher shop in brooklyn where you have a state inspector making a visit 3 times a year. each department in the company has at least 1,2 or 3 usda inspectors. go hide a meth plant where you can’t hide a peice of meat after a days work or they won’t let you operate in the morning unless every inch of your company is sparkling clean.

    2) If you don’t feel comfotable eating meat/poultry under supervision of Rabonim like rabbi Weissmandl or Rabbi Maizlish (who headed the kashrus for the Aide Hachareidis in Eretz Yisroel for 20-30 years, and noe lives in postville   blocks away from the plant & spends 12 hours a day in the plant)) The KAJ (who parted for non kashrus reasons, ask them) and a number of other very respected hechsherim, Then you must be from those who shecht their own cattle in their back yard, and I respect you for that otherwise I can’t see that these rabonim are not good enough for you.

    3) for those of you who are questioning the ne’emonus of the company, remember one thing here in oilam hazeh you can say all u want to ur friends, on the internet….. but l’malah you will be asked who gave you reshus to partisipate in such a terrible avaira, & instead of writing “lets make a real chkira udrisha b4 we partake in bashmutzing a yidishe company” (who on the side happens to be supporting hundreds of familys if not more that we do & don’t know about”

    I probably will not be looking at these articles much longer as I mentioned in the first that I only wrote cause it really hurts me to see what’s going on, and the oibershter will surly pay back people who do the right thing as in bringing kosher meat & poultry at relativly decent prices, and who are known all over as a family of chesed chesed and chesed.

    1) No one cared if it was a meth lab or not. If you read the original papers, it was destroyed before the search. Wasting everyone’s time on the old meth lab shtus is just that – wasting our time.

    2) I look at both the Rav Hamachshir and the owners. They go hand in hand. If the owner cannot be trusted and this could be the owner of ANYTHING, then you run the risk of another Monsey.

    3) The specific question was about the meat and deli that was 2 years old that went to camps. Why can’t you answer that? Why change the subject and keep on hammering the same talking points?

    4) If the oibishter is going to pay back the people that do the right thing, as you say, what will he do to those that hire 13 year old children?

    this is a very hard subject. People are very agitated to be on 1 side or another. Look at the tone o fthe writers – either you want honest owners or you want inexpensive meat with a ‘good’ hechsher from baal tzedakas. It would seem that the two are mutually exclusive (That means that you can have one or the other, but not both.)

    One side keeps to the facts and the other side keeps harping on the same talking points (actually, that could be describing both sides).

    Tell me, when will this finally end?

    Being that you claim that its all lies then please tell us the REAL reason why KAJ left?

    And tell us the REAL reason why weissmandel took in more masgichim lately since the raid and please tell us why Rubashkin will not let outsiders into the potsville plant the to inspect. (Agri claims they do but when it comes down to it they dont let you in).Be truthful with yourself . Its quite obvious that you work for them and u are afraid of losing your job and i cant blame u for worring and trying to defend them. After all you were forced to sigh papers not to tell anyone anything about the internals of the plant, . But please, talk to to Rubashkin to get rid of weissmandel because he lost all neemunus by everyone and hire a new crew and hopefully you can get your self out of this deep knee high mud that you guys are in.

    Look at this ! Now there is a tayna on Weissmandel for hiring MORE mashgichim.

    Maybe since KAJ left they want to improve

    the hashgacha. I assume it’s not classified information and if you ask sincerely they will

    give you the answer. Where does this come from to

    attribute sinister motives for anything and everything that that hashgacha does (even improvments)

    It is just SICK – and I have absolutely no shaychus to Rubashkin and am pretty much anti-lubavitch these days. But I can’t stand when all

    these mashchisim are out to destroy a person & a

    business out of pure hatred and jealousy.

    All these accusations against him are pure conjecture regarding Kashrus. And the real issues re: illegals etc. are minor mistakes (blown out of proportion) and are being corrected. They may not be malochim but need to be aggressive businessmen in order to succeed in this obviously cut-throat meat market. This is true these days to be successful in almost any competitive business. They are paying huge sums to assure that the hashgocha is first class and acceptable to MOST regular people.

    To 1:20 – why so much sinas chinam in your post? “out to destroy a person and a business out of pure hatred and jealousy” ?? No one is jealous of Rubashkin.

    PLease remember that there was acceptable Glatt Heimeshe meat before Rubashkin and unless Rubashkin cleans up his act, there will be Galtt Heimeshe meat after him. It is up to the Rubashkin family if they want to be in business – not everyone else.
