“We observe to make sure nothing inappropriate happens,” said Latanya White, an organizing member of People’s Justice, the group leading Cop Watch NYC.
Organizers said the effort will focus on areas where allegations of police brutality are most prevalent. They will also hand out flyers advising citizens of their rights when stopped and questioned by police.
Councilman Charles Barron (D-Brooklyn) threw his support behind the watchdog group. “Ironically, we’re watching the same people we pay to protect us,” he said. “Cop Watch is in order.”
The cops can really have a free hand in their stations at the “official” interogations. So whats the point?
They probably got a kick out of the story in Philly with the chopper’s view.
Why don’t they spend the same time and resources of videotaping the violent crime the perps are commiting?
it’s about time, lately every criminal becomes a cop.
