Ontario, Canada – Prime Minister Stephen Harper today issued the following statement in response to the situation in Israel:

“The indiscriminate rocket attacks from Gaza on Israel are terrorist acts, for which there is no justification. It is evident that Hamas is deliberately using human shields to further terror in the region.
“Failure by the international community to condemn these reprehensible actions would encourage these terrorists to continue their appalling actions. Canada calls on its allies and partners to recognize that these terrorist acts are unacceptable and that solidarity with Israel is the best way of stopping the conflict.
“Canada is unequivocally behind Israel. We support its right to defend itself, by itself, against these terror attacks, and urge Hamas to immediately cease their indiscriminate attacks on innocent Israeli civilians.
“Canada reiterates its call for the Palestinian government to disarm Hamas and other Palestinian terrorist groups operating in Gaza, including the Iranian proxy, Palestinian Islamic Jihad.”

Bravo! How come Canada gets it, while the rest of the world doesn’t? Actually, I think the rest of the world also gets it. But their reflexive hatred does not let them admit it.
This is what you call true leadership. Thank you Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper!! Why is our American President so quiet? Please be so kind and call Obama our president and have him do the same, and while at it, teach him a thing or two about true leadership.

PM Harper stands out amongst all world leaders as a leader with true moral courage. Its is true that President Obama and other world leaders have voiced support for Israels defence but none have been as forcefull and unequivocal as PM Harper.
It is not Canada that gets it right but rather it is PM Harper and the Conservative Party of Canada that gets it right. Such straightforward pro-Israel sentiment would almost certainly never be heard from Liberal leader Justin Trudeau or NDP leader Tom Muclair. It is a testament to PM Harpers integrity that he is pro Israel even though he derives no clear political benefit from being so. Quite to the contrary Canadian public opinion is by no means overwhelmingly pro Israel.

Thank you #13 and #15 . Both of you on right on the money. It is so refreshing to see that their are people like you guys who see it for what it is. Both Stephen Harper and former President George W Bush are true friends of the Jews and the state of Israel. Sadly the same cannot be said about President Obama. He is no friend to Israel regardless of what he may have done. He has no love for the Israeli leadership (his cuddling with Peres is a total photo op) and no love for its people – its just an undeniable fact. It’s sad but true.
