In a press release posted on his website MikeBloomberg.com, Bloomberg said he plans to fly to Israel Tuesday night to show solidarity with the Israeli people, and to demonstrate that it is safe to fly in and out of Israel.

“Ben Gurion is the best protected airport in the world and El Al flights have been regularly flying in and out of it safely”, the former Mayor said

Bloomberg also called on the FAA to immediately reverse course and permit US airlines to fly to Israel.

He grates my nervous whatever he says! MBP is dangerous and this is safe?

The fact is that if rockets can indeed get so close to an airport how much longer before the acquire anti aircraft missiles like the Russians in Ukraine?

While we can wish Israel succeeds we cannot be blind!

Let’s not forget that every person especially a Jew has a good side as well. As much as i hated his policies his rough attitude, his rude approach to us the people of NYC, I cannot turn away of the fact that he is indeed a person with a strong character with his policies set so nobody would even try to change his mind. As a mayor its bad, I hated it, but as some politician expressing his views on Israel his strong character is in place.

I was wondering if anybody on this site can answer my question? As everyone knows, Bloomberg hired about 20 retired members of the NYPD to continue to protect him 24/7, as they did when he was Mayor. Therefore, when they accompanied him to EY, did El Al allow his bodyguards to bring their weapons onboard? Also, once they arrive in EY, do the local authorities permit Bloomberg’s bodyguards to carry firearms there? I’m not trying to be sarcastic, as I salute Mayor Bloomberg for flying on El Al and going to EY. However, I’m just curious to know what El Al’s policy is, as well as the government of Israel’s policy is in this matter? I know that when the UN has its annual General Assembly meeting in NYC, many of the attendees bring their own bodyguards, who are carrying firearms, which are technically illegal to carry in NYC. Please clarify? Thanks.

    Well done Michael Bloomberg 🙂
Correct decision. Hopefully others will come to same conclusion, and will understand the right situation, and not believe false reports of state sponsors of terrorism.
