Spring Valley, NY – A Jewish congregation that was allowed to start adding on to a single-family home and then later denied a special permit to continue the project plans to sue Mayor George Darden, the village board and the village for $20 million if the permit isn’t granted.

A notice of claim that was served upon the village yesterday alleges that Congregation Kolel B’nei Brak’s civil rights were violated in retaliation for an earlier eminent domain dispute involving another property owned by the congregation.
The notice of claim alerts someone to the fact that a lawsuit is being considered. A suit may be filed 30 days after the notice is served.
Village Attorney Bruce Levine this afternoon said he could not comment on the matter because it was pending litigation.
I wonder how that $20M figure was arrived at if this is just a single family home’s addition?
Did the initial approval indicate there would be a need for the special permit?
Is this a legit Kolel or just a scam for tax purposes. I live in Monsey and don’t know of such a Kolel
Ploni, typically such claims include a monetary claim for the violation of civil rights.
20m?? settle for 20$!
