(AP Photo)Iraq – On Thursday, the jihadist group Islamic State completely destroyed the shrine known as Prophet ‘Jonah’s Tomb’ in Mosul after spending an hour rigging the site with explosives.

AFP reports that witnesses said Islamic State first cleared local residents and worshippers at the Nabi Yunus shrine before destroying it.

A rep from the Sunni endowment said, “Islamic State completely destroyed the shrine of Nabi Yunus after telling local families to stay away and closing the roads to a distance of 500 meters from the shrine.”

After declaring a “caliphate” in June, Islamic State has leveled 30 shrines and 15 husseiniyas and mosques in the Mosul area, most notably the shrines of Imam Yahya Ibn al-Qassem, Aoun al-Din and Nabi Danial.

A witness to Thursday’s bombing said, “They first stopped people from praying in it, they fixed explosive charges around and inside it and then blew it up in front of a large gathering of people.”

The shrine was built on an archaeological site dating back to 8th century BC and is said to be the burial place of the prophet, who in stories from the Bible is swallowed by a whale. It was renovated in the 1990’s under Iraq’s late dictator Saddam Hussein and until the June militant blitz, remained a popular destination for religious pilgrims from around the world.

These people steal our holy sites and then bomb them and no one in the world says anything. Imagine if a Jew would have blown up one of their sites, what the world would say.

Reply to 10. Of course you are right, the world could care less about Jewish holy sites.

However in this case I believe it is also holy to Moslems. When Hashem created the Moslem problem, he also created the cure. That’s why they all hate each other.

What was the point of destroying it? Its not an idol, its a grave site.
The radical muslims all over the world have been doing this since (and probably before) the Taliban destroyed the 6th century giant statues of the Buddha in Afghanistan in 2001 and similar things ever since. UNESCO and the U.N. have been “outraged”, deemed the acts “totally unjustified” and suggested they should be considered a war crime – but 13 years later, and about 500 other similar acts of wanton destruction worldwide and nothing has been done to stop it. No one in the world is stepping up to the islamic terrorists – except Israel. The world is being taken over by radical Islam and muslim sympathisers. Despite the logic, the entire world is turning against Israel. This is the beginning of the end; the war before Moshich; the war of the world against Israel and the Jews.
