Israel – French President: No Mideast Peace Until Jerusalem Is Shared

Israel – French President Nicolas Sarkozy said Monday there could be no Mideast peace unless Israel drops its refusal to cede sovereignty over parts of Jerusalem claimed by the Palestinians, challenging one of Israel’s most emotionally held positions.

Speaking to a packed session of the legislature, Sarkozy also called on Israel to stop building settlements in the West Bank. But he tempered his address by assuring Israel that it could count on France’s support in halting Iran’s nuclear program.

Sarkozy, whose maternal grandfather was a Greek Jew, praised Israel’s democracy and quoted the biblical passage in which God promises the Holy Land to the children of Israel. The comments drew applause and broad smiles from most lawmakers but got scowls from the handful of Arab members.

ut as he turned his attention to the struggling peace process, reactions were less enthusiastic.

“There cannot be peace without an immediate and complete halt to settlement,” he said. “There cannot be peace without recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of two states and the guarantee of free access to the holy places for all religions.”

Sad. He was heralded at one point as someone who cared about Israel and their well-being. He too failed. He’ll fall like the rest now.

I think he is Bi-Polar or he is worried about an uprising of the 5 million muslims in his country that he pissed off last week by greeting Peres with full state honors, as in the past they had riots in the muslim sections and alot of violence, whereas the 600,000 jews that live in France are peaceful so he says what he says.

When we start caring about Jerusalem, maybe then we can keep it. When we allow the Gay Pride parade to walk through the streets, we lost our right to control the city. Maybe now, Jerusalem will be respected and cared for under the arabs where the parade will never be allowed!

It is funny that the arabs have never waivered from their demands but by the Jewa, we change all of the time.

They can come to the table with pre-conditions, but we cannot.

With Jews that battle each other and no achdus, I am afraid that the only time that there will be peace is when Moshiach will be here.

A goy blaubt a goy! What did you think he was a french mashiach? Vote for Jewish Patriots like feiglin and forget what the goyim think, its not our concern.

I think Yankl’s attitude is why we have so many instances of Chillul Hashem, We have to care what goiyim think and we have to be cognizant of our public actions. We are chipping away daily at our reputation which in esessnce as holders of the Torah, Mitzvos is a Chilul Hashem.
