screw it… it may be that he’ll do well somewhere else, I don’t care that he got promoted … maybe he was in the midst of in-house politics that prevented him from doing his job…. The main thing is that he’s gone!

As a Crown Heightser who has been involved with this issue for a very long time, let me just say this.

    ABOUT TIME!!

Vega may not be the only problem, but he is a significant player in the current lousy situation. Commissioner Kelly listened. That is good.

Vega was a good person. As someone familiar with the pct and situation you should all be embarrassed for making a tremendous chilul hashem.

Even if you were right there is nowhere in halacha that says you can make a chilul hashem for any reason no matter what!

Vega had his hands tied by two organizations that act like a bunch of two year old kids fighting all the time.

Crown heights shmira is a disaster and Shomrim of crown heights is not that much better. These two oragnizations should remember that the real goal was to help the community rid itself from crime but what we have is a bunch of idiots not liking each other and running around with lights and sirens. These two organizations refused to cooperate with the police with anything that would bring the arrest of criminals when they are jewish.

This is why the police hate shomrim and shmira of crown heights. it is time to grow up guys and get along with the police. If you want the police to do their job then HELP them but do not get in their way when it comes to the actual job description. Police MUST do everything by the book or else it is their career on the line and their pension whereas shomrim and shmira lose their dumb plack card in the front windshield.

Grow up and make a kiddush hashem and in return you will have a peacful community.

police officer and will remain anonymous.

I’m very happy for Vega. I know him still from the 72. He is a great guy and loved helping everyone.

Somehow who ever becomes the CO in the 71 has to deal with all the idiots there. Spoke to other CO’s that used to work in the 71 and they had the same comments: Can’t work with them (Shomrim & Shmira).

It’s time to shut down both of them and start a new Shomrim that will work with the 71 like all the others.

The PD is here to protect and serve us the taxpayers, so if there are many complaints about an officer or if soemhow the job doesnt get done -people have to be moved.

If he had to be promoted in order to be moved – big deal

The entire Jewish community of Crown Heights is very pleased that Vega will get the boot, its got nothing to do with Shmira or Shomrim, the crimes are coming from the Blacks and he had no clue how to deal with it. He had no control, he was losing it, its about time the NYPD puts a real inspector in there who will take control!

I just want to say that I truly believe this was the plan back from the news first broke and I wrote about it on my site (lifeofrubin.com)

I think they wanted to give him the dignity to make it look like he was leaving on his own terms. Whether he was a good cop or not is not the point. What is the point, is that he was not right for this community. He did not know how to deal with the problems and most often the case was that he didn’t want to deal with it.

He repeatedly made his claim that there was no increase in crime or community problems and that everything was normal. He often encouraged people to come to the meetings and then would filibuster and not anyone make complaints.

I’m glad he’s gone, I hope he is successful at his next post, but Crown Heights is 100 times better off for this. Now let’s get someone in there thats willing to roll up his sleeves and get the job done.

Vega was a nice guy, and was really a friend of the community, CH is a difficult area with racial tensions, and he just didn’t do it, but I wish him good luck where ever he goes, although he could’nt handle the complicated situation, we’re still losing a friend.

Shomrim has about 15 members in Crown Heights.

Shmira has about 150 members in Crown Heights.

From my understanding is that the goal of shmira on why they don’t give out member’s info to the N.Y.P.D., and they try not to wear their uniforms.

This way the criminals should not know the difference between a pusheter yid, and a patrol member with heavy-duty backup, and if the N.Y.P.D. has their info rest assure the criminals will get a hold of this info.

i strongly agree 06-26-2008 – 3:45 PM if the cops have shmira info of all their memebers if their is ever problem with goy the cops show the entire list of pic of shmira to the goy and he picks out one guy and the cops will arrest him with no questions asked because they are anti semites and this happened allready thats why they do not have shmira info and thats why the cops say they dont work with the police dpt because they refuse to give their info to the cops because the cops dont care about the community all they care is about making arrests they hate shmira and shomrim believe it or not

This (the promotion and transfer of Dep. Insp. Vega) has Two definitions; “Kicked Upstairs” and “Promoted-out-of-the-way”!!!

Without knowing all the facts, it is evident [from the news reports] that the Commanding Officer of the 71st. Pct. was not doing his job! Whatever the motive! And the speculation is endless!
