New York - A pregnant woman whose altercation with police led to her being put on the ground belly-first met with prosecutors on Tuesday to talk about what happened to her.

Attorney Sanford Rubenstein said he and Sandra Amezquita met with the head of the civil rights bureau of the Brooklyn district attorney’s office. Another woman who said she was pushed by police in the same incident, which was captured on video, also was at the meeting, as was Amezquita’s husband.

Rubenstein said District Attorney Ken Thompson stopped into the meeting as well. A spokeswoman for Thompson has said the office is investigating the incident.

A video taken earlier in September shows an officer struggling with Amezquita, who police say tried to intervene in the arrest of her 17-year-old son. Amezquita is five months pregnant and is due in January. She repeated her concerns Tuesday for her fetus’ health.

Rubenstein said Amezquita’s family “appreciates that prosecutors have met with them.” He added they “are pleased that there will be an independent investigation.”

The New York Police Department has said an internal investigation is underway.

In an earlier incident, another officer from the same precinct was suspended after a video appeared to show him kicking a street fair vendor and walking away.

There are many sadistic, and brutal cops, whom comprise NY's "Finest". It appears that it is very difficult to fire these deviants, because of their strong PBA union. However, it is not impossible, if the local DA's and the Mayor would do their jobs, and not let these rogue elements get away with their strong armed tactics. If they can get away with that conduct with minority groups, they will employ (as they have done in the past), the same tactics towards Yidden (i.e. Mr. Schick, a 75 year old owner of Schick's bakery, in Borough Park, who was manhandled by NY cops in 2006).

One has to wonder how often these sorts of things happened in the past but were dismissed as baseless accusations. The free ride cops have had in attacking the public is coming to an end thanks to cell phone technology.
