Israel - Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu should ask US President Barack Obama in their meeting Wednesday to commute the life sentence of Israeli agent Jonathan Pollard to the nearly 29 years he has served, the heads of the pro-Pollard Knesset caucus said Tuesday.

The meeting is expected to focus on Iran, Islamic State, and Netanyahu’s proposal to involve moderate Arab countries in solving the conflict with the Palestinians. But MKs Nachman Shai (Labor) and Ayelet Shaked (Bayit Yehudi) said Pollard’s release on humanitarian grounds should be on the table, too.

“The years are passing and nothing is happening,” the MKs said in a joint statement. “Pollard remains in prison and there is no release date. There is no value in continuing to hold him. His fate should not be tied to that of Palestinian prisoners. He has served too long and it is time to free him.”

Effi Lahav, who heads the Pollard campaign, said that in addition to matters of justice and Pollard’s frail health, there is a new reason to release him: the collaboration of Israel and the US in fighting terror.

“The strategic cooperation, including in intelligence, between Israel and the US in the war on terror proves more than ever that the Pollard saga must end,” Lahav said.

How would he do that after 29 years in jail? It doesn't bother you that a Jew rots in jail, while people who spied for enemy countries got far less a sentence? We have seen too many disproportionate sentences against Jews as compared to others. If you are really a Jew, this should concern you.

Also, Pollard's first wife was jailed too, while Walker's wife, who aided him in spying for the Soviet Union, an enemy country, got off with no jail time. Does any of this matter to you? While Pollard was wrong, he gave Israel information promised to it by the American government who withheld existential information. It seems that "your government" doesn't keep agreements either. America spies on its allies too, just in case you are not informed.

" MKs To Netanyahu: Bring Pollard Home "............... Pollard is home. He was born in the US. He broke US law and is receiving just punishment for his actions.

He sold out his "home" country for money....... no pity for him. May he rot in the
hell he put himself in.

Your government should be Israel not America.

Pollard is too valuable a bargaining chip, they'll never let him go.

No release unless Kerry & Obama can benefit from it, like when they were on the verge of letting him go in return for Israel releasing the 4th batch of murderers which didn't happen in the end.

But you still hear the insane theory from people that he needs to be locked up for life because he 'knows to much' or he 'deserves it'...

He will not be released early. Israel has nothing to offer the Americans. I doubt he will ever be released.

I also want Yonason's release because he is a yid who already spent more than two thirds of his adult life in prison. As a matter of fact, I would want his release if this was his second day in prison. Because he is a yid. I hope it's tonight.

That clarified, I can't help being more than a little bit surprised with one question. Many men say that Yonason has been eligible for parole for a number of years and declines to apply. Some of the men who say this I know well, and they are intelligent and sincere. Yet, nobody can satisfactorily explain why (there are "theories" and conjectures but I am not mkabel any of that).

So, can somebody here confirm that it is so, i.e. that Yonason is eligible and doesn't apply? And if so, why doesn't he?

Thanks in advance.
