Jerusalem – Shas leader Aryeh Deri, who quit politics with great fanfare last week, hinted Sunday that he is already on the way back.

When asked if he would make a comeback in an interview with Channel 2’s Ilana Dayan, Deri said “a man who cannot change his mind is not human.”
Deri said he had been aware of the controversial 2008 videotape in which former Shas mentor Rabbi Ovadia Yosef called him a bad man, said the public perceived him as a thief, and blamed him for Shas enabling the passage of the Oslo Accords.
He said he had been warned by rabbis that his nemesis, former Shas chairman Eli Yishai, had shown them the tape a month ago.
“[Yishai] promised the rabbis the tape would not be broadcast,” Deri said. “I could not fathom that he would broadcast it anyway.”
Deri refused to respond to Yosef’s charges against him in the tape.
Meanwhile, Channel 1 reported on efforts by the Belz hassidic rebbe to reunite Shas. According to the plan, Rabbi Reuven Elbaz would head Shas in the March 17 election and neither Deri nor Yishai would run. Jerusalem chief rabbi Shlomo Amar and Yishai’s new rabbi Meir Mazuz would be added to the Shas Council of Torah sages.

If this ouesvorf is welcomed back to Shas after it is known that Rav Yosef had total contempt for Deri, it is the culmination of Yosef’s children dragging their father’s memory through the mud and spitting on his grave. When the election comes, they will all be dragged into the trashbin of history.
Anyone who is a Chronic, or a Habitual Liar, is not exactly, Human, either.
Someone who Lies, is also not a Mentch.
Wow..What shock. And here I was thinking that Deri was a man of principle!? Why was this so predictable from the moment he announced his resignation?
The fact is Shas are the biggest bunch of political zonos. Let’s not forget for a few shekalim to their coffers they sold Israel down the river and supported the second Oslo Agreements which resulted in thousands of lost Jewish lives. They deserve Deri.
I cant say that this is really much of a surprise, everyone from across the Israeli political spectrum saw this coming. I hope Shas falls apart.
Shades of Ross Perot. Another faker who conned people into begging him to run.
The Jewish people are rudderless this is like the kohanim at the time of Bais Sheni
