Howie Rothman’s family in Jerusalem will use the donations to assist with medical bills, reports The Toronto Sun (http://bit.ly/1wmiuIO).

The first portion of the donation, $108,000, was presented to the family on Monday.

Five people were killed in the Nov. 18 attack by two Palestinian men who stormed the Bnei Torah synagogue in Jerusalem with guns, knives and axes.

Rothman, 54, is still in a coma. He lost his right eye and suffered brain damage. UJA spokesman Dan Horowitz says Rothman will never work again and has six kids at home.

Rothman grew up in the Greater Toronto Area and attended the Community Hebrew Academy of Toronto.

Anyone wishing to help the family can do so by visiting helprothman.com.
