Washington – Former President Bill Clinton says the best part of being out of office is having much more freedom with his speeches – as long as his wife isn’t a candidate.

“If you’re not in office, you can say whatever you want,” Clinton told a packed ballroom at the OMNI Hotel in downtown Atlanta on Saturday. “Unless your wife might run for something, then you’ve got to be more careful.”
Former first lady Hillary Rodham Clinton has yet to announce her plans regarding the possibility of another presidential run, though she is widely seen as the front-runner among Democrats considering a campaign in 2016.
Bill Clinton delivered the keynote address at the HOPE Global Forum, an event in Atlanta billed as providing people with financial and economic empowerment.
The former president spoke mostly about taking an initiative in building an inclusive economy, discussing how the Clinton Foundation assisted with the reduction of generic medicine costs for HIV/AIDS, efforts aimed at improving crops for African farmers and a push for calorie-cutting soda.
“This idea of private citizens doing public good is very important,” Clinton said. He did not speak to reporters at the event.
The King Center had organized plans to honor Bill Clinton on Saturday evening with the Salute to Greatness Award. The center was honoring him for his foundation work and Clinton Global Initiative.
