Silver kept his distance from new Speaker Carl Heastie as he slipped into his seat approximately 80 feet from his former head position.
Sources say veteran members typically sit in the last row because it’s easier to enter and exit the chamber quietly and without being noticed, reports The New York Post (http://bit.ly/1zAwoe1). .
Silver, 70, held the Assembly leader position for over 20 years before he was forced to resign after being arrested on corruption charges.
Heastie, 47, is the first African-American speaker of the Assembly. He gained support for the leadership position from fellow Democrats two weeks after Silver was arrested; however, Heastie has faced flack for his own financial background, particularly his campaign finances, which were being investigated by the Moreland Commission before it disbanded in March 2014.
Now one more step, JAIL.
