Police Commissioner William Bratton says the department is testing out the mini vehicles.
He says they’re more economical than the scooters.
The Daily News (http://nydn.us/1AeS17f ) says the agency has acquired nine of the single-passenger cars for the pilot program and currently is trying one out in Central Park.
The Smart cars would be used in NYPD’s parking and school safety divisions and at precincts across the city.

Very cute.
The criminal ride in the back seat
Oh boy, America is shrinking before our very eyes. Why would any criminal respect a police officer riding in a toy car?
One advantage of these is that you can drive them with a regular license. The 3-wheelers are registered as motorcycles, so you need a motorcycle endorsement on your license to drive them.
No car chases happening with these babies
This is definitely aimed toward decreasing police shooting criminals as the police will now get nowhere near them. Also helps off duty officers easily find parking as we all know how careful they are to not illegally park.
