New York - The Dow Jones industrial average managed another record high close, but just barely, even as other market indexes edged lower.

The Dow Jones industrial average gained 15 points, or 0.1 percent, to 18,224.

The Standard & Poor’s 500 index slipped a point to 2,113. The Nasdaq composite also fell a point to close at 4,967.

TJX, the parent company of T.J. Maxx and Marshalls, rose 3 percent after its profit beat analysts’ expectations. The company also said it would raise wages for its U.S. workers.
