Monticello, NY – Judge Frank LaBuda recently invited the Sun Ranch bungalow colony in Monticello to bring campers to view a day of the court proceedings, which included a full court calendar with several felony cases.

The girls, all of whom reside in Brooklyn, stayed for more than five hours. “We were impressed,” said Gitty Walter, head counselor, noting that it was a first-time experience for the girls, and informative “in a creepy sort of way.”

LaBuda said he regularly invites the high school kids to learn about court proceedings in a real-life setting.

We have to teach children when they are young that you have to follow the laws.

Great idea from the Judge & headcounsler.

May others do the same & may we all bring up our children the right way.

it was not so importent for the innocent girls to be there. They should have bring the buchirem what are going eventualy be in busines to see that the end of a thief is behind bars.

no, it is not a place for bochrim to be. although it is great that they took the girls there, bochrim could be exposed to “reiyos asiros”. i can’t imagine what filter ed’s problem is with taking girls to the courthouse and teach them about the system. i have spent several days in court and i found it to be very educating.

I disagree with pupa rov of K.J. It WAS important for the young women to have this experience. It is part of life.

I enjoy court proceedings. I used to go alot to the downtown courthouse with my wife in shunu rishona. It was always an informative and interesting outting.

It is also a hot spot on Chol Hamoed, all seats are usually full of yiden, you can see heimisha girls running all over the court building.

Pupa Ruv SHLIT”A of KJ: The Buchirem [or anyone else, for that matter] should open up a Sefer Koheles and read the Possuk where it says… …Sof Ganev l…! Also, reading the newspapers, [the Kosher ones, obviously1] about all the convictions and sentencing!!!
