New York – Starting this month, all New York families with uninsured children are eligible for moderate or no-cost health care coverage.

Gov. David Paterson says eligibility for Child Health Plus was expanded to include families whose income is four times the federal poverty level, up from the 2 1/2 times previously required.
For example, a child in a family of three whose income exceeded $44,000 would not have been able to participate in the program before the expansion. Now, that child will be eligible for coverage at no cost, or at a reduced monthly premium, if the family’s income is no greater than $70,000.
Any family with income above the new cutoff can buy into the program at the full monthly premium, which is $156 on average.
bravo now the ruthsheilds can have there children insured at a disscount price
I would look into this a bit deeper before cheering. I think most families would rather pay the $9 or $15 a month per child to have their kids on child health plus B which every doctor accepts & is run through 3rd party insurance companies such as empire blue, then to pay nothing and have child health plus A, which is really not up to par.
I suspect this is a clever trick by paterson to cut costs by raising income levels to get more people on plan A, & off plan B.
CAN ANYONE WITH KNOWLEDGE OF THE SUBJECT CLARFIY THE ISSUE
As the VP candidate Sara Palin said “Thanks But No Thanks”. I will earn and buy my own health insurance. Stop stealing our money. Got extras to spend? give it back to the hard working tax payers.
Anonymous 11:58PM,
I am very glad that you are healthy enough and are of sufficient income to buy your own health insurance on the private market. Most Americans are neither.
Where do we apply? Phone #, web url? PLEASE…
I’m sure if you call UCS, UJ Care, UJO, BPJCC they will be able to help you.
