Why do we even give these idiots a platform. Who made her an expert? She blames the basic chasidishe lifestyle for the cause of the problem.

Authentic Satmar, you are very far from being Authentic Satmar. You most definitely are an authentic ignoramus. Ruchie was great on the show and she portrayed herself the way she always does: With an intelligence and clarity on the subject she speaks about. Ruchie has spent the last 6 months or so researching and learning first hand about this unfortunate issue. She has taken it upon herself to get involved pro bono, without any form of compensation aside from the rbsh”o himself. Ruchie, may hashem bless you with success and may we merit the redemption with all of our children in tow B’Derech Hashem Nelech speedily in our days.

Only trying to help, doesn’t make someone an expert. She is dealing with very complex and sensitive issues, and needs to have qualifications.

Ruchie is truly dealing with a complex problem. We need to listen to her ideas. She is selfless in trying to help others. Until now, she has only been able to handle individual cases. If we listen to her and see a more global picture, we might be able to do something. There is no reason to become one of the naysayers.

Authentic Satmar, your second comment makes you look a little smarter than your first, but still a long way to go. Your second comment doesn’t justify calling her an idiot (of your first comment). No one ever said that she has that much experience. She is stepping up to the plate when so many of us are stuck in the dugout. She is couragious and we should all back her initiative and pitch in. It is false what you say that she blames the whole chasidish establishment for this very hurting issue. On the contrary, she is a very active member of the Bobov community and is not condemning them in any way. It would be putting your head in the sand to think that this is just a chassidish problem. It is unfortunately a widespread problem, which happens to be that the chasiddsh community has the least experience in dealing with this. Many of the chasiddish at risk boys don’t have where to turn as opposed to those of a more Yeshivish or Modern background. This is the area that Ruchie has been exploring and really being effective already believe it or not. Please, Authentic Satmar, don’t mouth off without knowing much of the facts.

Authentic, I’ll explain you what’s going on. Humans have this innate need to feel superior to someone or something. Chasidim served as the inferiors among the “progressive” Orthodox. The Chassidim on the other hand actually believed in their inferior status at least when it came to secular or professional issues. They had this unfounded awe for anyone that had initials before or after their name.

Now, things have changed. Chassidim are establishing their ability to be equal or even better in many areas where only the “modern” used to excel in. Let’s review a few things. Chasidim are now the best in the music and entertainment industry. Chasidim have the best chefs, catering halls, merchants, small business owners and more recently are now doing “professional” work as well. Chasidim now have the best architects, accountants, therapists, lawyers, law enforcement, politicians, etc. etc. Some of the best and professional charitable institutions were founded by Chasidim, like Hatzolah, Hamaspic, Dor Yeshorim, Shomrim, Bonei Olam, Bikur Cholims, Gemachim, etc. They (the Chasidim) are taking away from the “modern elites” their convenient scapegoat so they can feel ‘better’ and superior.

So, that is why you’ll see a desperate effort now to “address” all kinds of “Chassidishe problems” like metzitzah b’pa, chsidishe shchita, sexual abuse in “chasidishe schools” etc.

Chasidim have a good phrase: di hinten billen in der tzug foort vaiter,,,

I want to share my 2 cents on this subject. Let’s face it there were always sex offenders going after young innocent children, even 30 & 40 years ago when we thought that our parents age were the holy ones and never sinned. Today the population is bigger, so per capita there are more offenders and more vitims. I think protecting our children from harms way starts at home!!!!!

I learned that each and every child must have a phenomenal relationship with parents, where parents will listen to their children for at least 5 minutes every evening when they come home from school, and the parent not reacting with anger or hysteria if a child give unpleasant clues as to what goes on in school but rather investigate and get help until you finish the job.

If a child feels comfortable talking with their parents then they will share so much thus being able to prevent alot of heartaches.

I am not very optimistic that she will get any where on her own unless we ALL get involved in her effort but u know its very hard to unite all this different chasidim and the parents that have good kids don’t care either, unless they are smart enough to know it could happan to any one including the so called elites , I hope and pray she succeeds

I have a solution. How about running a lottery for all students to determine what school a family gets into. All the askonim, admorim, rabbonim will be in the same pool as the rest of the klal everyone equal. This way every kid gets into school, it would alleviate the overcrowding and will eliminate the elitist mentality so prevalent in the yeshiva world today

She wasn’t that good. She brags too much that she is a lawyer, and tries to play rightoues that she is not a role model….make up you’re mind…..then she holds back her real opionins on the school system, and says she can’t reveal her true feelings about it, so she isn’t really an activist, she’s trying to please too many and NOT standing up against the system. But wants the KOVED that she is DOIng Something. She’ not being BOLD in any way. She even said the Afraican AMereican made her see things she missed, and she’s missing ALOT now!!

WWZ: Your comment is completely irresponsible. Mrs. Freier entered the legal profession, and she has a career specifically in that field. She is not a counselor; she does work on the streets to rescue kids at risk. She is an interested person in the community who is sensitive enough to recognize that the problems are not just the kids but a system that makes all this stuff possible. She feels strongly enough for the cause that she has undertaken to campaign to get kids into yeshivas and schools. She has some successes, and some of her work meets with resistance.

I heard the radio show. She took questions from Zev Brenner and some of the callers that highlighted her choice to enter law. That was not her topic, and it even detracted from her focus. Her background helps her with being more eloquent. She was quite livid about the chinuch system failing to meet the needs of the children that she was discussing. The question she avoided was how to modify the chinuch system. For one thing, she does not consider herself the expert on education. In addition, the chinuch system will not look to her for guidance in how to reform itself. So she appropriately redirected the question towards the areas in which her competence is helpful.

Incidentally, she is not the only activist who works (without pay) to get kids back into yeshivos. It is work that is difficult, with the schools resisting the kids they consider “garbage”, and the kids themselves not wanting to go to schools where they will be treated with unusually strict discipline and/or ridiculed by others. If you ever tried doing a fraction of what Mrs. Freier and others have done, you would recognize this. And you would look at this entire picture differently, looking to be part of the solution, not the spectator who watches from the sidelines, mocking everything that others do.

As far as learning from an African-American, a quick perusal through Tanach and Shas should yield numerous insights learned from goyim or animals. We are expected to learn something from every encounter we have in life. It was not just that she learned this from that participant in the conference; it was the shock that this should have been said by our leaders. In yesteryear, we had gedolim who said things like this, such as the Chazon Ish, whose derech of approach to chinuch is nearly nowhere to be found in today’s world. What a shame that such simplicity, based on the dedication to produce a generation of ovdei Hashem is not heard from our leadership – only from outsiders who recognize this need in totally goyishe circles.

I am sorry I did not hear the show. I am sure she is a good person, good mother, good wife, good daughter, good aunt, good mother in law, good lawyer and of course good Jew. But how in the world could this young individual have more knowledge of how to fix a problem that has been going on before she was born. If the professional educators in our frum circles have not really figured it out. Unless Hashem has given her some extra Nevuah on how to approach the subject. I think she loves attention. I am happy that there are plenty of people that will give her the attention she craves. Most Jewish Mothers who have children to take care of find it hard to also have time to work and take care of the world.

Anon 8:10. Why are you so quick to condemn? Attention??? Ruchie Freier is a person who cares. She has personally gotten children that were on the streets into yeshiva. This problem has come her way not by choice but obviously pre-ordained. “B’makom She’ein Anoshim Hishtadel Lihyos Ish”. And that is what she’s doing. Trying to make a difference. If she was able to help one neshama it would have been well worth her efforts. How dare you all just wasting your time sitting at a computer and naysaying somebody that is doing something totally L’shem Shomayim!!! It is a shame that people will be so low and (for lack of a better word) disgusting!! Instead of being negative, do something about the problem. Everyone can be effective. It is ludicrous to think that this belongs only to the professionals. On the contrary, the professional mechanchim are sometimes to inundated with situations and can’t give the proper attention to the individuals that so need it. So it is time for everyone to step into the batter’s box and do your little piece. Maybe we can make a dent in this ever growing problem. Yeshalem Hashem Schorchem.

To Vin: In the past I have read that this same lady was teaching a class all about the frum community, was that also to better the world. I only base my feelings about this women from what you Vin News is bringing to the table. Her helping individuals is very nice. Nobody is saying that she is not a good person. Everyone of us needs to help with whatever we are capable. Are you trying to tell me that she is more qualified that so many of our Mechanchim???”??

Helloooo

You all have to realize that “one” person can make a difference! That one person can be you, can be me, can be Ruchie Freier or all of us together if we just try to work together! Now get that through your “thick” heads!

Well said Anon 11:28. Ruchie is not more qualified than anyone else. The difference is that she’s doing something. Unfortunately many of our childrens mechanchim are just sitting by as children fall through the cracks. Get off your chair and do something too. You are just as qualified as are the mechanchim as is Ruchie Freier. Do something and help our kinderlach. That’s all Ruchie is doing. Do something too. We need all the help we can get.

I also think she wants attention…which is okay…but saying “I”m not a role model, I’m not telling other girls to be like me”…that’s all unnessasary, and trying to make herself appear holy. She is a Lawyer in REal Estate, she isn’t willing to stand up to the system—she is a simply a Real Estate Lawyer so what is her expereience in these matters? How does this make her a community activist?—-I can be a community activist—-WE ALL can be, Let’s all be on Zev Brenners show… THe 2nd to last caller had a good point about HYPROCRICY IN JUDIASM,,,,as the root for many of these promblems,…..and let’s NOT forget BIG MATERIALISM. Sincerely, A person who REALLY STUDIES the Jewish Scene.

I listened Motzei Shabbos and was impressed. Mi keamcho Yisroel that a person, in this case a women, is trying to help Yiddeshe kinder. Is it right to try to take her apart if she means 100 percent leshem Shomayim or only 50 percent? Every child she saves is a hundred percent of the child saved, that’s all that matters.
