New York – 9-11 The Day That Changed The World Forever

    29

New York – On Sep.-11-2001 that day, America suffered a grievous blow. We at VIN News will never forget the facts and feelings of that day — our feelings as Americans, as Jews, as citizens of an unfamiliar world. We will never forget the sacrifice of the 3,000 men, women and children who perished that day. And we will ever strive to repay our debt to those brave souls from the NYPD, FDNY and EMT’s who gave their own lives to save others.

We lost our neighbors and friends and family members, our commonplace assurance of everyday safety, and our innocence, as commercial airliners seized by murderous sub-humans plowed into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center, into the Pentagon, and into a field in Pennsylvania.

In a time like this its also deserving to remember one of the primer Jewish volnnetrs orgnzation ‘Hatzalah’ who played a pivotal role in the World Trade Center rescue operations. The very first ambulance to arrive at the World Trade Center following the first plane crash on September 11, 2001 was a Hatzalah ambulance. By the time the second airplane crashed into the second tower, there were two-dozen Hatzalah ambulances, including Hatzalah’s Communications and Command Center trailer, and more than 100 Hatzalah EMTs, paramedics, and doctors on scene. Before the buildings came down, ambulances had arrived from Hatzalah of Rockland County, 40 miles to the North, with additional medics and EMTs. During the first hour, over 125 patients were transported to area hospitals by Hatzalah ambulances.

At the south end of the Twin Towers, Hatzalah was the predominant ambulance service covering the disaster scene. Hatzalah ambulances transported numerous victims, including fire fighters and police.

In addition, Hatzalah assisted in the rescue of thousands of men, women and children, who escaped to the docks near the Holocaust Museum in Battery Park and helped evacuate these people onto boats headed for New Jersey .

During the day some volunteers were missing , but, thank G-d, there were few casualties amongst the Hatzalah team – miraculously all Hatzalah members survived.

The Yom Tov (High Holy Days), commencing later this month, are a time of reflection and renewal. We will continue to pray to Hashem for all who have lost their lives and have been scarred by terror, for the families and friends who continue to suffer, for the men and women from the NYPD, FDNY, EMT PAPD, Doctors, Nurses, and first responders, who today and every day are protecting our freedom and our lives, and especially for those Chevra Haztolah members who was there for all of us on that day Seven years ago, and are always ready for us 24 hours a day to save another life. May H’shem bless them and their families.

Horrific and very sad, 911 calls for help as the tower was burning.

Too sad of a day. I saw one of the towers fall.

The world has forgotten. America has forgotten. Obama wants to ‘negotiate’ with the terrorists. Only New Yorkers and those who lost loved oned will remember.

Egypt still thinks that Bin Laden did not do this – it was America and the Jews.

Just remember who did this, who assaults our holy Torah every day, who wants to see the Jews wiped off the face of the earth.

    NEVER AGAIN

We have an obligation to remember!

As Jews we should also take time to remember on the Jewish calendar date as well.

I wish the liberals (including obama & crew) would remind themselves of who caused this horrific tragedy…maybe then, they would stop kissing up to the arabs!

    09-11-2008 – 11:13 AM

    -************************

never again was the motto of the Jewish Defense League.

In the late 1960’s there was a wall in Rome called the Titus Arch. There was an engraving on it of the Jews being taken to Rome with the Monorah. Someone spray painted on it NEVER AGAIN.

Yell what you want on the government there, but that is all we’ve got. Neturei Karta wants Israel dostroyed and they are happy to live in the arab lands. Little do tthey know that they will dead if that happens.

Never Again. Not just words. Soldiers in Eretz Yisroel put their lives on the line every day so that the words are true, with the help of Hakadosh Hu.

I still remember that day as if it was yesterday. It was about 11:45am that morning and I entered the BBT from Brooklyn. I was the only car allowed thru since I had my lights & siren on and could not believe what I saw when I came out on the Manhattan side of the tunnel. Everything was coated in a fine dust that looked like it had snowed in September. I was afraid of getting out of my car since the air was thick with this dust. I was able to locate an ambulance crew and ask for a breather mask. The enormity of the destruction that I witnessed that day was immense. It looked like the World Trade Center had a direct hit from a nuclear bomb. And the one thing that really stuck in my mind was seeing firefighters and policeman sitting on the ground with their heads in their hands crying softly like a baby. I also remember seeing a Hatzoloh crew giving out water and sodas by the Financial Center very close to ground zero while firefighters were vainly trying to pour water into a building that was almost completely destroyed. After about an hour, I realized that there was nothing really to rescue since the destruction was so massive and complete. I then went back thru the BBT and came out in Brooklyn with my car looking almost white from the dust even though my car was black. By that time, there was a complete lockdown of all traffic going to the WTC and even emergency vehicles needed special authorization to enter that area.

As long as I live, I will never forget what I witnessed that day and hope never to see anything like that ever again.

    I would like to add:

Thanks to President Bush, VP Cheney, ex-Sec Defense Rumsfeld (among others) and the Armed forces of the USA and coalition partners for taking the fight to our enemies. May those enemies soon be vanquished.

And a Bronx cheer to the Democrats like Clinton Shumer Reid Polosi Obama Biden and even Republicans like Rice and Powell who have politicised the War against terror and have diminished our safety.

Vote Conservative Vote for who will destroy terrorists.

So if they’ve done such a great job where is OBL?

On 9/11/2001, I was in the Bronx, 15 miles away. It was a beautiful day, and you would never have known of the horrible events taking place, as the prevailing winds that day carried the smoke and ash toward Brooklyn, except for the news accounts.

That is, until minchah/maariv, which at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine is said b’zman on the 29th floor of one of the high rise dorms. We recited all the songs of ascent and went out onto the roof where we could see the horrible plume where the towers were supposed to have been as daylight disappeared. It is a sight I will never forget as long as I live.

Today, I happened to be working at FDNY headquarters in Brooklyn. A moment of silence was announced through the building PA system at the exact moment each of the two towers fell in memory of the members of FDNY who were lost that day. I felt honored to be working on a research project to monitor the health of the members of FDNY who were exposed to the toxic environment, either at the time the towers fell or afterwards.

    sol,

OBL is possibly hiding in a cave someplace like the bleeping coward that he and the top honchos are. The point of the war on terror is not if we caught/killed Bin Ladel or his croneys, its Derech Hateva that BH nothing has happened here for the past 7 years. I assure you if Al “I’m A Tree Hugger” Gore would have CHV been in the White House, there would have been more attacks because he would not have gone after them.

Sol, I will take a wild guess and assume you are a Liberal so I will ask you the following…. And what happens if we were to catch OBL or anyone big in that hoodlem group? Your fellow Libs have given them the rights of a regular citizen instead of terrorists that they are! We have to make sure we read them their rights etc. for gosh sakes! I SAY SHOOT FIRST ASK QUESTIONS LATER!

    mikey,

The 9-11 terrorists had minimal connection to Iraq or Saddam Hussein. Most of them were from Saudi Arabia. OBL was hiding in Afghanistan, so sending troops there was a good idea. Maybe if we’d have been able to send more troops there (instead of to Iraq) we would’ve caught him; this would have been a big demoralizing blow to the terrorists.

But what exactly does the war in Iraq have to do with 9-11? Historically Iraq has acted as a counterbalance to Iran; the long-running Iran-Iraq war left both countries so weakened that neither was as serious a threat to the US. Now that Iran no longer fears a military threat from Iraq, it can concentrate on building up its nuclear arsenal C”V.

    The bottom line:

As always, politicians have a way of screwing things up. Why did 9/11 have to happen to begin with?? The US government spends close to $50 billion a year on intelligence operations and still could not have prevented 9/11 from happening. Talk about wasted money!! The incompetence of the US government is mind boggling. No wonder the approval of Congress is at an all time low of just 9%. Not to mention Bush’s of 28%. The lowest rating of any president in recent history. Sure there were no attacks on US soil since 9/11, but at what cost? The hundreds of billions of dollars spent since then for the war and other operations have put us deeply in debt and has undermind the US for the past 7 years. All those billions could have been spent to fix our crumbling infrastructure and other domestic needs. I’m not a liberal democrat, but what’s going on here???
