Jerusalem – Prime Minister Ehud Olmert says Israel is ready to express sorrow for the plight of Palestinian refugees.

Palestinians have demanded that Israel accept responsibility for the suffering of Palestinians who fled or were driven from their homes in the war that followed Israel’s 1948 creation.
Olmert’s remark Monday fell far short of meeting this demand. But it was unusual for an Israeli prime minister to say Israel “will participate in expressing sorrow for what happened to them.”
He spoke at a closed session of the Israeli parliament’s foreign affairs and defense committee. His remarks were relayed by a meeting participant who spoke on condition of anonymity because the meeting was closed.

The third step is the recognition (instead of neurotic denial) that the Palestinians will not abandon their inherent rights. Are the Palestinians going to announce sorrow for all the riots and bloodshed they caused in the British Mandate of Palestine even before there was even a state of Israel?

Or are the Arab states going to announce their sorrow for expelling over one million Sephardic Jews without giving then any compensation, grabbing their properties and ignoring them even though they have become mega-wealthy states from their petro-dollars?
How about will the Egyptians apologize for the Muslim Brotherhood and Egyptian officers (sworn to allegiance to Britain) for working with the Nazis against the British, not to mention theirt attacks against Israel in 1948 and across the boders with the Fedayeen that they armed and trained to kill Jews?
Will Hizbolah express its regrets for bombarding a third of Israel and killing civilians? Will Hamas stop and say sorry for lobbing Kassams at Israel day after day?
